Kurt stated this at the last summit.
That is not what he said.
What he said was that lawsuits are a good tool for driving sales. As an enforcement tool, lawsuits drive sales by encouraging pirate operators to buy their music to get legal. I don't see anything untoward about that, especially because nobody who has already bought their music has to buy more music to avoid a lawsuit. Fear of lawsuits drives a lot of good behaviors, like making products safer, being more careful in dealing with people and property, and avoiding piracy.
No matter how you spin it James the lawsuits are being used to leverage settlements from hosts that would not be interested in your snake oil otherwise. You might call it a tool for driving sales aka the practice of leveraging settlements. The results are the same, a rose by any other name. When you talk about driving you act as if the hosts a cattle with no mind of their own. You seem surprised when some in the industry question the purity of you and SC's motives. You are motivated by money plain and simple, recouping loses for you client, that is your primary concern. Not the overall good health of the industry, or the people who work in it. A plain tale is best told plainly. Have a nice day.
