If you can't get the regular authorities to get interested in the question of licensing, I guess the present system will have to do. All hosts will have to protect their business, the best way they can. Which will still leave us with the wild west of karaoke, with manu regulators hauling in the guilty along with the innocent.

this is what we have been saying since you first put up the license idea. it requires enforcement and we have been told to sit on it and spin.

Having a "Blanket License" would be about as enforceable as say.
1. Every driver must have auto insurance. 2. You must have a drivers license to drive. 3. You can't be an Illegal Alien and stay in the U.S. 4. You can't drink if your under 21 5. You can't buy cigarettes if your under age. and hundreds of others that people get by with everyday.

There might be one ray of hope, I heard on the list of things to be done to make this country more competitive government is going to over haul the copyright, patent and trademark laws. That could bring relieve and set up some sort of enforcement agency to over see our problem? Maybe bring some order to the chaos. At least it might clear up some of the more confusing points of the situation. Another solution is not use the government at all and have the manus themselves set up the licensing program, rather than their piecemeal approach. They might do it anyway if this legal gambit doesn't work. HarringtonLaw has stated the current approach has been reached in a trial and error fashion, since they started all this nearly 2 years ago. I guess it all boils down to how bad the manus need the money, and how long they can wait to recover at the rate this is going.

i would love for congress to revamp the trademark and copyright laws. it would be nice if they could let us enforce the existing laws of immigration. in AZ we are being swallowed whole by illegals and get a bad rap for saying WTF?

Well they actually have tightened up the fair use issue a considerable amount. Clarifying very clearly what fair use is and is not, who can copy under the fair use exemptions and who can not.

I was recently chastised for the same thing you're doing here, so here's the new game plan: If you cannot or will not prove what you say, then don't say it in the first place.

EXACTLY! NO MORE GAMES! If you/or anyone for that matter, has a link to something pertinent, post it rather than saying look it up!
