Maybe I spoke to soon.
Looks like a previous case (2011) against Thomas for selling illicit copies via pre-loaded hard drives, counterfeit discs and making tracks available online for download led them to Ancog after looking through subpoenaed information from Thomas' email and online accounts.
Either way as you said Way to Go Stellar!!

Suing an HD distributor, AND finding their way to another one? It looks like Stellar is the company that's getting it right!
Great, and 'bout freakin' time...

There are some distinct parallels between that case and what KJBill a/k/a Joe Marsten is doing - http://kjbill.com/This guy is in my neck of the woods. He is pretty brazen about his activities. He is all over CraigsList. I have had some dealings with him in email and the guy really, really, rubs me the wrong way. He claims to produce his own music and own versions of karaoke tracks. Harrington and company know about him. -Chris

Chris I see the same add on Cl.the KJBill guy is all the way over here in Boston. This is where harassment and lawsuits need to be focused on the sellers, then sue the ILLEGAL users not the hands that Feed. IMHO
I did send that kjbill link to harrington just this week. I had never seen that one before. he just seems bolder than the normal cl listers that don't leave a name or phone number on their listings.

after checking out Joseph Thomas’ website. http://www.djkjman.com/index.htmlHe’s sells HDrive with 125K songs (every song produced) and on his disclaimer section are these words: ”You "are not" purchasing music from us. You are purchasing our services for ripping and storing "your" music onto digital storage. By purchasing any music drive, you agree that you have all original copies and that you plan on using these copies under the fair rights act. You also agree that, such music that may be in our collection that you do not lawfully own on Cd's or CDG's and that you have not purchased, you will delete from the collection or take full responsibility of any said consequences that may occur for not having such copies.”

hey guy's, my name is Charverick Ancog just want to clear with all of you that are pretty much talking trash about me and this law suit with stellar records.
1) i've NEVER resold any songs or made coppies, this was all private use. 2) the company i bought it from had a huge website that was operating in the open. it looked legit and i even payed with a credit card and got a receipt.
this could happen to ANY of you so watch out.
try to get more info before you start dragging someones name around.
thanx

thanx Personal use or not, doubtful that this would happen to anyone here. No logically thinking individual could ever believe that the purchase of 125,000 songs for $175.00 was legal.

Way to ge Stellar this is the way all the mans. should have been attacking the piracy issue years ago. Cut the head off of the snake no more problems. As far as the kjbill ads they have been all over cs for a few years now. I cannot believe no one has taken this piece of work down yet. He shoulnd't be hard to find just give him a call or go to his listed website. I know in my area my show is one of maybe 2 out of 10-15 host that have less than 100,000 songs in thier books.

thanx Wouldn't happen to me, I know 125K songs for a ridiculously low price (anything under $100K for that many songs is ridiculously low) is not a legal setup! Tell it to the judge!

OK! I see a guy in a parking lot, "out in the open", selling a large coin collection out of his trunk for 5% of their value. He accepts my credit card on his iPhone for payment through PayPal. When the police come knocking on my door for buying stolen goods, what do you think my chances are?

Private use or not, it is still pirated/stolen goods. It would be like if I sold you a cherry 1968 Shelby Ford Mustang for $1,000. Are you trying to tell me that you didn't think "Wow, that deal is too good to be true"? No alarms sounded? Are you truly that naive? I've heard better stories from murderers and rapists that I didn't believe.

I had a guy approach me in a parkiing lot last week asking if I wanted to buy some 'brand new' home theater speakers - top of the line out of his van. Apparantly (and this made me laugh) he works in a stereo shop that has massive overstock & they are liquidating these sets at rock bottom prices. Yeah ok. Most stereo shops I know actually sell their stuff IN HOUSE in what is called a "SALE"!

Lonnie, did the speakers "fall" out of the back of the van?
