The legitimacy of SCDG's has always been questionable, but the SD card is w/o a doubt legal.... unless they are bootlegged copies. I would also bet they are not bootlegged coming from this vendor.

The same can be said for SCDG's unless they are bootlegged copies. If the SCDG's are bootlegged it is not PEP's duty to go after the host's but the trademark owner who happens to be CAVS for the SCDG product. Oh by the way I talked with CAVS a couple of years ago and at that time they had no plans to go after hosts using their product.

Most companies that used to sell pre- loaded players have stopped offering that product due to copyright problems. My only concern is that if someone should check you out you would only have the card and not have the cd's, I don't know if that will fly as far as a 1 to 1 ratio standard. why would you need a 1-1 ratio if it was issued in digital format ?

so unless you convert these from their current form they won't play on a normal Karaoke software player ?

I guess you wouldn't if it is a CAVS product and PEP has no standing to sue on the CAVS trademark.

You do not need to convert anything, they are not scdg discs in this listing. If Loneranger had bothered to look at the listing you linked to it is totally clear that these are already in mp3g format on sd cards (not scdg) and will play from any computer with any karaoke software capable of playing mp3g (which is all of them I would guess). You can move them right onto your hardrive as they are, you do not need any conversion software. All is good. Edit: You will need a sd reader on your computer, if you don't have one you can get a sd to usb reader such as this for under $10 https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Reader-RS- ... rd+adapter

The Lone Ranger wrote: 8) Like I said my experience is with SCDG's not the card format. Since the source of the material is SCDG's then they would come under the CAVS Trademark, and not be subject to legal action by PEP. sorry Lone, those are not SCDG cases, they are SD card cases. there are no SCDG's in that auction.
