and this is EXACTLY why karaoke subscription services are a bad idea. I can just imagine trying to explain to an audience that they can't sing over half your catalog that they were able to sing last week.
If i didn't know any better, i would say that Sony and the like are deliberately trying to kill karaoke, and if that was the case they are doing an excellent job of it. *sigh*
ok rant mode off for now

Not a Sony/EMI issue. It's a Digitrax issue.

I agree. I also think it is disingenuous for them to point at ongoing Sony litigation as an excuse for losing their license. The suit mentioned was filed in Oct. 2014 and since that date, we signed ours as has several other companies. But keep in mind, once you have a license, you have to stick to the defined terms of use to the letter. If not, expect to get sued (like Universal did to them) or expect to be ignored for renewal (a more likely scenario in this case in my opinion).
The system leaves much to be desired we can all agree, but I don't go along with the narrative being promoted here...

The exact reason I will not subscribe to a service like Karaoke Cloud. My disc collection may be outdated but I own them all. Rip them to your computer and never worry about all the lawsuits between content providers and Music companies.

Whoa! This thread got me curious so I checked out the Cloud Pro site: they are down to 2,700 songs offered but that's including many duplicates!

Ouch! That sucks...
Glad I like to buy CDs instead of dealing with subscription services.

I signed up for the free 14 day trial just to see what was left, and to evaluate the store feature of karaoki. It still works for the cloud store and if your willing to use a VPN service, the store for SAT works as well which makes me wonder if that was part of the reason that Digitrax lost their license.
The content they have left is pretty abysmal. A LOT of public domain children's songs, gospel and worship which may benefit some groups of people, but as a general offering probably isn't all that useful/valuable.
I will admit, however, they still have a lot of country music that i don't possess

I'm grateful I still have credits left locally on KJ media pro.
I don't use it very often, but it's handy when I have no internet access.
I'm going to hold off updating the hard drive till I run out of credits.
