In another thread, Chip challenged Athena on media-shifting Pioneer, DKKaraoke and JVC.
If people will be willing to help me locate the contact information for manufacturers that either used to or currently do produce, I will start contacting them about how we get media-shifting permission.
I have looked for DK's information before but could not locate working contact info.

Chris, Company's that are "out of business" there is no way to get permission. Even with all the time I spent trying to contact someone at Pioneer nobody would even state they had the responsibility for the karaoke line the best I got was a flippant answer and I finally gave up and settled for what I did receive.I got nowhere with tracking down anyone at DK at all though I did try. All I can say is best of luck. The even bigger kettle of worms is those brands that have changed hands MANY times.

I suspected as much as a part of my previous attempts to track down manufacturers. I will do a little more legwork in my free time this week and post results when I have them.

So if you can't track them down to get permission to media shift, you can't do it - you'll have to use disc for those manufacturers - that's pretty simple. Or does legally shifted media only apply to one company?

No criminal law. These pronouncements are nothing more than a bunch of opinions of private parties.

Not according to some folks on this forum.... although they have no place to point to prove it other than what a manufacturer says. There is no law mckyj57, you are 100% correct.

The whole point of this thread is to try to identify, contact, obtain information on specific manufacturer's polices. It may not resolve all questions, particularly with the orphans, but it is a start.
