My question is: Did you have the SC songs that were sung as another version but you either gave them the SC version because that's what you prefer or the singer requested it specifically? Many of those songs are available from other sources but the reason they sang SC is because it's the version you had. Exactly.

I am no longer hosting, so most of my knowledge comes from past experience and as a singer.
For me personally, 9 times out of 10 i will ask if a host carries the soundchoice version, but i won't make a big stink about if if they say no.
Also the host who's show i go to about half of them will ask for soundchoice if it is available, especially if they are really good singers.
When I was hosting myself, i would say I'd get at least on person who asked for a specific version of a song, altho that wasn't always soundchoice most of those requests were for chartbusters, because this is Alberta after all, more of a country crowd.

But I can tell you people HAVE in fact told me they do come in because other shows do not offer the 'quality' selection that I do and yes get asked many times for SC versions. But these are generally the better singers (which is what we tend to draw more often), not so much the ones that do not care what versions they get.Auto detailing business cards Kids karaoke machine Auto detailing fairfax va Flashes Auto detailing business cards Kids karaoke machine Auto detailing fairfax va Flashes Auto detailing business cards Kids karaoke machine Auto detailing fairfax va Flashes

I would be a complete idiot business wise to drop my SC line and needlessly respend money to try to replace everything with something else. It just is not going to happen.

We get in current hits but our SC Foundation is still "the Foundation" of what gets done each night and we do have some 21 year olds. The good songs don't get outdated--in fact alot of the younguns have gone retro and are doing 60s rock. But it wouldn't be an accurate study for us to log which brands are done as we don't list the duplicate manufacturers. But definitely the songs included in the Foundation are done alot.

I used to have a non-repeat database. When I took on a venue that sang mostly COUNTRY, I had to force my database to display a choice for STAR DISC COUNTRY. The country singers will choose STAR DISC first, then ask for CHARTBUSTERS. If at all possible, they will NOT choose Sound Choice unless it was the ONLY CHOICE, although I, most likely, will have the Sound Choice version.
When I took on a BLACK venue. The patrons let me know "WHAT FOR" pretty quickly that POP HITS MONTHLY or TOP HITS MONTHLY is what they wanted. In this case, I completely eliminated a listing for Sound Choice if there was a PHM/PHU or THH/THHP/THP/THRB version. When I listened to the Singers perform to the PHM/PHU or THH/THHP/THP/THRB, there was a world of difference as to what they were wanting to sing. Even though SC, technically, was correct, the Singers were completely lost with SC versions but performed the PHM or THM flawlessly and, in turn, saved my job.
Sound Choice's version of BABYLON - DAVID GRAY has a whole verse missing. The Sunfly version is spot-on.
I have both Foundations, Bricks 1-5, Teen Paks 1-3, National Sing Contest 1999, The COMPLETE SPOTLIGHT SERIES minus these discs: 8243, 8267, 8555, an RSQ Series, a RADIO SHACK SERIES, several Single fills from the POWER PICKS and STAR SERIES.
All this money spent for SC means absolutely nothing at the above mentioned venues unless it was the ONLY version available.

I seek out SC when searching for a song because I feel it's usually the best version. Not always, but 90% of the time. For newer music (after2009) SC is not an option so PH, SF, etc. are pretty decent. Zoom and CB are options as well plus Mr. Entertainer!

Quote: For newer music (after2009) If SC wasn't made after 2009, how could any comparison be drawn to a preferable Brand beyond that point? Any comments of Alternate Brand comparisons to Sound Choice, obviously would only include the time frame that Sound Choice covered. Quote: Had to force???????????????? Don't you mean you had to reprogram??? No...I am not a programmer. I didn't program Microsoft Access. I am an End-User that operates MSAccess within the parameters of the MSAccess Program using rudimentary queries to manipulate data.

I've NEVER ONCE had anyone say they preferred a Star Disc - even hard core country singers, quite the opposite for me as they tend to ask for ANY other brand other than Star. Most of my Star Discs have been replaced with other brands. Quote: When I took on a BLACK venue. I can understand that as PHM has an Urban release every month where the other manus do not.

Has anyone taken up the offer of the discounted price for the GEMS?
Referring to the ad that the OP mentioned, the offer ends in 3 days, 9/16/11

You just explained why DK - the gold standard of longer running KJs- stays popular. Better than SC in most cases, the ONLY brand specifically made to enhance the amateur singer. However, JUST LIKE SC, no current releases. Chartbuster is great for country, but that's it. Stellar is just singable generic karaoke. Bland, but out quickly. My preference for newer pop is Zoom and Karaoke Kurrents (SuperCore).

Chartbuster has actually been MUCH better in their pop/rock stuff the last few years. Now if they could only get their lyrics swipes back to the old style they had where it went line by line instead of a page at a time, they'd be ALOT better!

I took one, my second system grew out of pioneer, monthlies, junk disks plus a few had to have sound choices. this was a cheap way for me bring the second rig more in line with the first. There is more I would like to add but I keep looking for bargains I am missing in one system or the other and buy them when i see them. Rig 2 generates about 400.00 in revenue a week so it will pay off quick enough.

Well the price has returned to the regular $4,480. At least that's what it costs on their website as of today.

The price on their website did not return to 4,480 because it never showed the sale price. It remained the same and still is the same not just as of today, but as of every day during the "special sale." Yes, you are correct. I should have simply stated that the KS Advertised discounted price has expired & the GEM will now cost anyone the regular $4,480.

Well it's still $4,480 on their website but KS readers can now get $480 off instead of the $1,480 off they could have gotten in August/September. Looks like the price went up on the "KS only" offer! "For those not already investigated or named in the first round of lawsuit filings, Sound Choice is prepared to generously offer the rest of the local hosts and venues one final opportunity to do the right thing and pay for their content prior to being named in an upcoming suit. Those who come forth voluntarily will be able to license the entire GEM Series of 6,000 songs for $4,000 (less than $0.67 per song) until November 18, 2011"~ Karaoke Scene Magazine: October 2011, Sound Choice Ad, Page 2 (Repeated in article, Page 17)
