.....The adhesive would have to be non-harmful to the cd+g's label. You'd have to print a code # or a barcode which would be registered to each disc. Once the label is applied, it cannot be removed without damage and therefore invalidated.

The initial registration is made by estimating the number of cd+g's to be registered and then issuing coded labels. The code is then paired with a mfr's disc-id and registered in a database. Any leftover labels are either held for future registration or returned to be issued at a later date.

I'm also considering what it would take to create a clearing house independent of the mfrs. A registrar and secure storage facility?

Sounds like a good idea, but the barcode label can't be both impossible to remove without damage AND non-harmful to the disc label. The adhesive is what it is. However, I don't see this as a big sticking point ( yup, pun intended.. ) as long as the one sticker is representative of ALL manufacturers, not just one or two.

Still, wouldn't this kind of be the same as Chips idea about the registration numbers, but adding the label? If so ( and I'm not sure after adding in the usage of the extra labels :?: )
Then the reg numbers would work just as well, no stickums needed.

I'm saying the adhesive would have to be inert as to not harm the printing on the disk but the label itself would tear apart and become unusable and invalid if you tried to remove it. One time use only.

And this is for already existing cd+g libraries... a way to register those discs like DK and Pioneer, etc.

Ah, got it....

With both yours and Chip's ideas, I'm guessing if one sells their discs to someone else, the first process must be voided at the clearing house, and then repeated with the new buyer. This would take some work, so there would probably be some sort of transaction fee.

No big deal, I'm just thinking out loud.....

I wish I could be more positive. I do believe Wall's idea would be great for future disc production, but except for Chip's idea of registering what we already own, I can think of nothing to be done after the fact ( for discs that we already own) that wouldn't be detrimental to the KJ in one way or another.

I thought about this... what about a self-destructing decal? The type that some states use for their license plate date stickers.

The adhesive would have to be non-harmful to the cd+g's label. You'd have to print a code # or a barcode which would be registered to each disc. Once the label is applied, it cannot be removed without damage and therefore invalidated.

It would need to be a circular hub label or you'd have balance problems.

What I don't like about decals is that they too, can be forged. A hotstamped number - with a check digit (and symbol) in the hub would be very difficult to fake, because you cannot "guess" the next number in the sequence.
