Connect Problem, high speed cursor flickering. Handshaking with main server ??? I had to connect from an America Online ISP. Couldn't connect from Yahoo.
From looking at the posting history this evening, and based upon number of members on the site that haven't posted, it appears to be quite wide-spread. Not sure if it's a main server problem however it's VERY difficult to connect to Karaoke Scene Forums, but not other KS areas. Once I do connect there appears to be a problem with modem handshaking or a very fast flickering affecting correspondance within the BBoards however Singer's Showcase appears unaffected. I haven't been able to connect, (just happened to be able to after numerous failed attempts) and my font features aren't properly working. Wonder if this is a handshaking problem, or main server modem problem. Hopefully NOT some Memorial day virus.

There apparently have been some modifications done by another party and I cannot determine what they are/were?!
Like the font - it has been changed I don't even know where to start because I don't know what was changed... This section contains over 100 pages and scripts... No time to search all of them.
Second a modification was done to a scri[pt that has caused it to loop in the mySQL (database) - I again am uncertain what the modification was in order to stop it so I just rebooted the server hopefully it will fix itself.
I need the designer to send me messages everytime he changes or ads something because everytime ghe does - I have to go in and fix it.
Rather annoying!!!

Phil sounds like you need to rollback to a previous backup of the code if you are uncertain the change. Guess you can either get the developer to find the change that caused it, or just roll back to another version. Surely he does a backup before he makes modifications.

Seems the designer should've included the Webmaster in his doings Furnished notification of changes in the event that THIS happens on a holiday weekend.
Certain things should be shared with other key individuals IMO
OR, was this "other party" not site authority, but instead somebody that deliberately introduced a type of virus into the coding ? Perhaps we were hacked, or a virus was introduced that caused a glitch in the coding ? Anyway, the cursor does appear to now be at normal speed, it has been all day. Only thing (on my end) noticeably different is the default light-grey text color while composing my text.
Also, if it's any help, or if for some reason you don't already know, the following features appear AS light a shade of grey as our type while composing posts
In the "File Comment" area beneath the Add File, as well as the Preview, Submit, Copy to Clipboard, and Spellcheck buttons are this same shade of light-grey. ALSO, once the post has refreshed, or in our original posted locations, within the Avatar section the "Groups" boxes a member belongs to are light-grey, as well as the two boxes on the bottom of our post area that say "All Posts", and "Oldest First" (following the text "Display posts from previous:") Our text in the "View new posts since last time" is light-grey, So it does appear as though
Display Properties---> Appearance------>Advanced appearance--->caption text buttons --->Message Text
(or something along those lines have been modified) Yet I suppose your main frame HTML (or whatever that's called, is far more detailed then simple Windows default appearance features
Can't find any reference online to a recent virus affecting bboards this way either.

Hmm...I'm using XP and not really having any problems with the site other than the grey font which is hard to read. Performance on KS is fine. It is SS that is having the performance issues primarily whenever accessing anyones profile in order to view, edit, or make comments.

Things should be better - let me know
Also, I agree the party that decided to make a modification should send me an email listing the changes and provide me with an original and a copy so that I may save in a dated folder to keep track of these and adjust as needed.

I sent Phil a PM about this latest access problem too Vicki. I don't think Phil has been around here at all today. Joyce said that some Verizon DSL users can't even view the KS or SS home pages.

OK.. well.. I started a new thread because this one had an old date on it.. and to be honest.. I assumed all the banter in it had probably gone sidetracked before I looked.. so yes.. that's why I started a new one .. to get attention
I've read the comments here to Joyce.. and she says Thank you for speaking out Morgan and Odie

This is some very strange error - I have no idea why it seems to effecting some and not others.
I just got these messages... Sorry but I do not monitor the site as much as I used too - I am terribly busy - I try to see if I can discover the reasons but to no avail. In fact, I just accessed the site through a neighbors computer they have Verizon - seemed to work fine...
<<SCRATCHING HEAD>>
I have no idea but will send a request out to see if someone has an answer...
