quite a number of us are experiencing trouble in uploading to SS these days. For me I can generally upload on the 2nd or third try, but Hotglove in the UK cannot upload at all, and I know several others who have experienced similar problems intermittently.
Do you have any idea what is causing the prob Phil?
Would appreciate it if you could look into it for Hotglove cos I am about to sub something on his behalf
I am onto my 2nd attempt at subbing it too btw
oh and since I am on a roll...(only cos I scrolled down and saw others have had similar probs from time to time) I am finding it increasingly difficult to listen to subs on SS without them stopping and starting...some times I could swear I was on dialup instead of dsl

I will look into this.
I believe that part of the trouble is the access speed due to several items. Here are a few that I know of:
1) Connection speed to the server.
TRY these tests:
http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp
http://www.auditmypc.com/broadband-speed-test.asp
2) The fact that this site is extremely popular the bandsidth useage at times can be rather problematic.
I will see whatelse I can discover and see if I can fix.

I'd like to add that SS member Snuttan ( Linda) is not able to log on to SS at all. She lives in Norway. She told me many of the ip addresses in Norway of SS members have been blocked.

Hmmm...and I was thinking about listening to some of the songs you guys have subbed. Thanks for the warnings. I may go ahead and see if I can listen to them anyway, but I'll know not to be too disappointed if there's a lot of stopping and starting.

Darlin I would accept that as the reason except that when I normally upload, the bulk of the members are in bed. It is a time out prob...but its not due to traffic and its not due to me being in NZ...if you wish I can ask RandyJ who has already mentioned in these forums that he wont sub at present, to give his experiences...Jandbsinger is experiencing difficulties as is Redhead...these are just a the people that have asked me at different times if there is something wrong with the site that they cant sub.

When you play lots of online games like me you, will get acquainted to bandwidth usage.
Simple speed tests are not enough to determine a problem with latency.
There are several traceroute programs you can download for free, that you can tell you latency, speed, number of hops to the server, hop server ID's...ect ect...you can tell where the problem in your route is to any server you want to check.
Once you check your route , most of the time, you will find the problem is not with the ISP you thought it was...
Sometimes, a simple phone call can get an ISP to reroute you on a different backbone so you can have better ping to your server..

I just listened to three different songs & uploaded one of my own without any problems.
The speed of upload was fast as it normally is for me, and listening to others is no problem either!!!
BUT....."I have high speed cable that is about twice as fast as DSL" :dancin:
This site for me does not seem to be a problem.... :oh yeah:
Hope you all can figure out what the problem is in your case. :)
Hope this helps in some way..... :handshake:

it's not a timeout or traceroute issue if it gets all the way to the end of the upload, and THEN fails

During the last couple of days I've been listening to many different songs on SS. I tried uploading a couple of songs (then took them down) just as a test too. I had no problems with the test uploads -- they went fairly quick. When listening to songs, except for a one second pause or glitch towards the beginning of the buffering, they played without any problems. This short buffering glitch is an old, common problem that also happens when playing a lot of other music or video files on the internet. My DSL connection is fairly slow compared to cable modem. Anyway, that's how SS is performing for me here in Oregon.

I am unable to discover an error on our end.
I wish I could determine what and where the trouble is. I have several server data center techs looking into the problem. They have not discovered any troubles. They believe that it is a network connection error that is causing the time outs. However, they are trying to find exactly where it is.
If you are experiencing troubles:
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
PLEASE Could you do a tracert and send me the results.
Code: Start >> Run >> type cmd
At the prompt (C:\.xxx.\.xxx.> ) type: "tracert singersshowcase.com" without the quotation marks.
When you see the results, right click select 'copy' (which is grayed out) and hit the enter key
Next paste in to an email to me. (webguru_at_KaraokeScene_dot_com)
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
We can use this to trace the system and possibly find the error.
If you know of anyone else having this trouble - advise them of this procedure.

The Data Center has raised the max execution/input/memory/uploadsize of PHP now.
See if this has resolved the problem.
Let me know either way!
Thanks...

its 11.20pm here sunday night...most little brats should be in bed and I know that you americans will still be in slumber, yet trying to listen to subs on SS and they keep breaking up...above is the tracert results...being somewhere between 4am and 6 am on sunday morning for you guys its unlikely that it be traffic problems.
so you see its a right royal pain in the butt...

Apparently there are network problems - as you can see your first hop had timed out?
Then 17th had an error...
Sorry I don't know what is going on with those connections
