Hello all,

I have sent emals to those that wrote me regarding this problem and responded to PMs.

As FOXE has explained so well. This is beyond my control. I have extra IPs set up and ready to go for each site that is on the server - however I am afraid that if I made any DNS changes currently I may heighten the problems instead of reducing them.

I would like to thank FOXE and others for their assistance with the situation.

I will continue to monitor the situation, but hopefully the "highway routes" will get updated and fix the problem.

Umm..ok. I was not "playing dumb" I really DONT know anything about the pc. Ebay & this place is the extent of my pc use.. !

Kelley.. it's ok.. most people don't need to know what goes on behind the Internet scenes.. and most dont care.. just want to get up.. type a site in and hit enter and it loads..

The only reason I know anything beyond that is because i work in the communications and internet industry.. and have had to learn a lot of it by reading and remembering things others have told me.. no formal training but being told.. you're smart - you'll figure it out..a nd oh yeah.. we need it fixed in 10 min.. that's what happens..  and I still feel like I get kicked and learn hard lessons as we go sometimes and then have to explain it all in "layman's" terms to other people I work with later.. plus customers .. the easiest things about the Net is clicking and going from site to site.. the back side of the Net.. is really not for the squeemish IMHO..  networking, computers, different providers, it all throws quite a monkey wrench into the mix when trying to troubleshoot.. it's not as easy as just point, click, and go..

Hey Cindy, it sounds like Phil still can't find anything that points to a problem at KS itself.  Can you summarize what your best, current theory is concerning the connection problem??

My theory is..

it takes time for servers on the Net to update themselves to realize the "new" path to the site..

every provider of every server used along the way of your typing in www.karaoke-forum.com and hitting enter has a time/date schedule their server follows to go out and search for updated information as to what site is now at what IP.  

Unfortunately.. my theory.. this is a wait it out situation..  the situation, while annoying for the many that are having trouble accessing the site, it *should* work itself back out.. geez. I'd hope within the week..  otherwise..

the only alternative Phill really has right now is .. does he go ahead and change the IP address of this site again and HOPE that those servers finally get the message PLUS hope that the other hundreds of DNS servers we're all using get the new route ASAP ...  plus will changing the IP again cause the problem servers that aren't routing people correctly even more confusion ?  So then there might be an even bigger mess.. and a LOT more servers seeing a broken connection..

so yeah.. he's doing what he can do.. waiting it out right now for the rest of the Internet world to catch up to the changes that were already made..

there's no "turn back time" clock available here..

PHILL, I,  tried to  send you a messages, however  I couldn't because I cannot get on here...But I did wriite to your email addy that a friend toldme the addy. YOU did not respond to me at all - I am a bit insulted to say the least. I know you're trying your best, but after reading that you sent messages to the ones who wrote to you--well, as I stated I did write to you as well but did not get a message back.I just sent another PM--my PM didn't work the last few days, so I don't know if you rec'd any of them concerning this problem. So in order for me to continue by coming on here through 'proxy' I cannot submit any songs nor respond nor comment to anyone, including mine.

If the mods or you Phill can tell me a safe route to get back on here I'd be aprreciative!~


I would appreciate an answer to my questions either by you mods or PHILL...I know you're busy, but some of the individuals that couldn't get onto SS are now on and subbing their songs and commenting? I'm actually a bit peeved because I haven't received any message from  you , Phill. Thanks again!~
