Being an impatient man as well as forgetful, I just simply hope our connection issues get resolved soon. It seems I'm forgetting how to sing now that I can't get to the site. Yes, I'm here now but using my work PC which apparently is following a different route to get here. Not to mention I can't listen nor upload songs from work becuase our IT dept. has that blocked. I'm currently working with Road Runner's tech support hoping they can have someone hunt down the ailing AOL server that is not letting folks in my area pass to SS. They claimed I should be hearing back from them by tomorrow. Although I expect an email stating, "it's not our problem!" The 1st attempt they said their servers always chose the fastest route because they were smart like that. Of course I quipped back, "if they're so smart you'd think they would be capable of rerouting traffic around a server that won't let you pass." All that was accompanied by several tracert sessions showing the same server IP as the dead end as well as two separate starting IPs. As Foxe said, really there's nothing we can do other than wait and vent in the mean time. I just think it's a shame that after 10 years of internet, this is a first for me knowing a site is functional but yet can't be reached. Robby

Although not everybody is back 100%, it looks like Cindy was right with her ideas!Wonder how much she would charge to be a 24/7 computer-IT tech support person? LOL Maybe she wouldn't really want that job.

Cindy, I have kept a copy of your explanation per our discussion this morning on the reasons for the glitch. You put it in terms, anovice like me can understand, and i will be referring to it to learn from in case this happens in the future. I got a good education out of this experience. You are the singing-techy.. You win a bag of Tostitos Scooping Chips from me...

Funny thing happened yesterday.....
My mother calls and wants me to come and see if I can get there computers working as they cannot seem to get on line and cannot use there AOL service either!!!
So I go up there and sure enough there DSL internet service is not working.
I call AT&T which is who they have internet service with....And this Professional IT person walks me through this stupid basic steps of:
(1) Is the modem power on??
(2) Is the cable from your modem connected to your computer??
(3) Is the DSL Light on your modem Blinking?? or Solid Green???
To make a long story short,This IT person says...everything is fine on our end!!
The problem must be that you have a bad cable or phone line from your modem to the phone jack.....NOT!!!
"We Demanded that a Service Tech from the phone company be sent out to trouble shoot the problem"... and when the guy gets there...He calls my mothers phone and says... "I just checked the Bell South Phone Box three miles up the road from your house and found "A Bad Card" (AKA-Bad electronic circuit Board) and have just replaced it"...Go and check your internet connection now.
So we did and low and behold we could then get on the internet and sign in to my mothers AOL account and every thing is working Great again.
This service was out for two weeks!!!! And took a Phone Service Tech to come out and replace a BAD CARD -(AKA-Bad electronic circuit Board) in the BELL SOUTH Phone Box 3 miles up the street to fix this problem with my mothers internet service.
I was Amazed at how stupid the IT person was at AT&T and how little she knew about what the possible cause might be!!! Hummmm....I wonder who else got there internet service back at about or between 2pm to 4pm eastern time yesterday????
Im sure this has Nothing to do with the problems people are having here
But at least it shows how much credit I give ISP Pro IT personel over the Service Tech Guys who actually go out and fix the problem.... I know!! I know!!..They have to have someone to answer the phone calls and to then relay the problem to the Service Tech's so that they can go find the problem & fix it!!
Just a thought and very funny experience yesterday that I thought I would share with you all....
I guess that "Bad Card that the phone company Service Tech Guy came out and replaced was a broken link in the chain or Road Map senario as Foxe stated!!
How funny...

that's a good story Neo .. funny thing.. you roll your eyes but OFTEN I've assumed the customer HAS indeed checked all those things and jump into something a bit more deeper only to find.. uh.. no.. Customer hasn't done any of that and it WOULD have fixed it
I can understand your feelings on support people.. but.. don't discount them entirely because..... I spend more time on the phone with techs who are onsite trying to diagnose a problem than I do a customer and it's not that the techs are ignorant.. they're brilliant.. sometimes it just happens tho. .. that they need the help of a support person too

Heck Joyce, If you're gonna talk about me at least make it sound a bit easier on the ears. LOL
Seriously, I almost know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder just how far we'll go. Doctors are curing illnesses that used to take people out. Populations are rising, food is dwindling, the forest are depleting, all while man is supposedly advancing. Just think... in a few thousand years we may be on all fours again begging for mercy.

Well, appears things are not quite so simple. I was going to SS to upload a song, and guess what? My access to KS and SS is dead again. I'm now accessing through a proxy again. Currently I'm using secure-tunnel.com
Hopefully this is only temporary. Not sure if I can upload songs this way.

I am able to upload songs using some of the proxies I've tried, but I cannot listen to songs with any of them. I think this is related to the fact that they are using Java or Real Player and through a proxy with odd addresses it doesn't like.
! Guess the wierdness continues...

The issue that Claypotts, tk101, myself and others have is one that I've been fighting for two weeks to no avail. The 3 of us are all on Road Runner's high speed cable access. We're timing out on a server owned by AOL. I've called and written RR several times and have yet gotten anything from them other than it's not their problem and that I should call AOL. Of course AOL will not let you talk to tech support unless you're a paying customer. I have a $75 credit sitting at AOL and called them again last night in attempt to either reopen my account using that credit or get my money back. The lady told me she couldn't reopen that account as it's been nearly two years since I parted ways. I couldn't have my money back, I couldn't talk to tech support, but she'd gladly set me up another account for $10/month, then I could talk to tech support. All I can say is it's a good thing I can't get my hands on these techless tech support folks I've been dealing with.
Anybody with AOL access call them up and let them know users are having issues getting through this AOL server:

Thanks Neo. I saw this earlier to day while at work and though why not give it a shot. I actually got to speak to some foreign speaking tech lady who I swear said her name was Jello. Any way, it was a good start, maybe. She wanted my IP address and I didn't have/know it. Although I was armed with the IP addy for the server that was giving us helllll. I'll have to revisit AOL again soon. But we're having an AL crew SS karaoke party here tomorrow so I doubt I'll find the time to call them. I do believe I saw this same info you supplied on www.network-tools.com but was afraid to call them at the time. I ready to scream at them now.
