I kappy, being in questionably but currently only a partially irrational state of mind
Wish for my Karaoke Scene bank account to be evenly distributed between Bab's Cats, and Milo's Parakeets. This way there should be no fighting over my estate upon my departure from this site as we know it.

They can be quite a vocal species I suppose, but I should talk, The neighbors throw water on me too during the mating season
I suppose there are some things that I will likely never understand about Cats as pets. Not that they aren't great pets for many. But there are times that SOME of these animals innately wild tendencies emerge. In a way that you won't see in most dogs (at least I don't think you will although I don't know). Two weeks ago a friend and neighbor (she's one of these eccentric types that lives in a one bedroom Condo with her 86 cats *give or take*). She's holding this one cat (looked part siamese and part persian, and part skunk) I walk by and she asks me something, I go over and this cat starts to freak.. It digs into her pants and claws and grabs her legs savagely drawing blood, she tries to pull the cat off and it bites her hand.. Now what I don't understand is that THIS animal is one of her "precious babies". I suppose birds are like that too when they panic, as are many species. You take a larger Parrot to the avian vet to have it's wings clipped and don't hold the head properly and you experience the wrath of an amazingly powerful beak (like a breeder and friend who had a nonhand-tamed or not hand fed when weened) large macaw freak and bite thru the bone practically detaching a finger).. Like they say I suppose, if you want to have certain pets, you damn well better learn something about the species. Even-so, in nature these animals weren't created to be "pets for humans to play with". It also seems that there's an abundance of Pitbull lovers around here.. Now aren't they somewhat unpredictable a species ? There's just something about a dog that can climb telephone poles and hang dangling in mid-air with it's jaw clamped on the boot of a utility repairman that doesn't strike me as a first choice for a house pet.
Dunno

Oh kappy-
Cats and dogs are like people in a way. They all have their own personalities.
Ex: People who were bitten by a dog when they were young often think all dogs can be vicious.
You can't judge a breed by a few bad apples.
By the way - my kitties are lovable playful friendly creatures. But I have seen some pretty vicious felines.

Bab's. I was reading that in ancient China, they used to have Siamese cats as guard animals in the Castles. I think what was so dangerous about the cats is that they went for the throat (something like that).. I need to read up.. this goes back MANY years..

wow ! I can't imagine.
The funny thing is my mom used to raise Siamese cats. The breed I agree is very stand offish and tempermental. Is that stereotyping?

They are vocal, and they have that funny sounding meow once they've been "fixed". What they are not, are great pets to have with young (curious and angry bratty) little 2 to 4 year old kids that have a lot of aggression, because I almost lost an eye to a Siamese cat that had a lousy sense of humor (when I tried picking him up by his handle)..

Quote: wow ! I can't imagine.
I'm trying to do a history search now on cats used as "dangerous guard animals" (I'm not talking about lions), but I'm starting to think I believed what might be myth or an urban legend, but I'm not sure. I can't find anything in the history of the Siamese cat that states this cat was ever a dangerous "watch cat". Quote: Common Misconceptions about Cats By : Charley Huang Since cats and dogs are the most common house pets, they are frequently compared and judged. Through these constant comparisons, misconceptions about cats are formed, and people will realize some not-so-attractive qualities about cats. But a cat shouldn’t be compared with a dog, as a dog is an affectionate animal, and requires constant love and attention, whereas a cat has a more independent character. That would be appealing to some people who prefer a pet which isn’t so demanding.

That's the wierd part about my cats. They are more like dogs needing constant attention. They want to play fetch and chase all the time. LMAO It is so much fun to chase them and have them chase you back. It is like playing hide and seek with a 5 yr old.

Yeah Babs, It's the crossbreeding of your species of cat. The hybridization of part cat, and part Martian gives them a different demeanor than most cats.

To you JD, I shall leave the following ! Actually I don't want these anymore, because this is what Babs used to keep in her little room to monitor those four-legged critters I think she actually believes are "cats", so since those little martians of hers are starting to do strange things with radio-waves... I leave these to you ! Might not be safe though !
