Hi, I'm new to this, but hoping you can help.  I currently use the SingStar PS2 which has served it's purpose and is quite fun for parties, but now I'm looking for something a little more professional.  The output is pretty naff to be honest, the Singstar is basic and I don't like the background singers... I just want to hear myself! I really don't know what to look for next, all I know is that I would prefer to buy cheaper disks, even without videos that could play on my dvd player, but also get great sound.  Do I need to buy big speakers, expensive mics, amplifiers?  Any advice would be appreciated.

check out the threads on the other parts of this forum... ones asking which manufacturer is best, etc.

You're probably going to get background singers in MOST of your selections, however! That comes with the territory of immitating the more than the single lead singer!

Thanks!  I can live with the background singers, I think it's more to do with the tinny sound of the mics/speakers that annoys me - I will check out the other topics.
