Just want to give a shout out to our military - past AND present. No matter how anyone feels about the current war, this is a day to remember the troops and all they've done for us and others.
GO TROOPS!!

Now I sit here in this century with post traumatic wounds bleeding again. wondering what happened to the decimated constitution and country that I took an oath to defend so long ago...

Same here Ollie.  The mindset of too many US people, or too high a percentage of our voting public (today) isn't what enabled the US to become a Super Power.

it's our whole fast food mentality... no more garage mechanics. Everythings gotta be now now now, disposable!

Yep, people have forgotten things important on so many levels. There is honor,  morality, wisdom, and unity - heading out the door just to name a few. I think we as a country are no longer "hungry". We have forgotten as a people what it is to NOT have and so we no longer protect it and understand it as we perhaps once did. In all our prosperity, and freedom perhaps we have become stupid and lazy. Kind of reminds me of the Roman Empire and how it decayed and fell with time from lack of cohesive unity, agreement, and drive.

I love the US, but the view from my mind's eye of our future does not look so bright.

I still get teary eyed at a parade when the veterans come walking down the street. The sacrifices our vets have made for us are overwhelming to me. Love ya Ollie!

I always explained to my children at a parade or any where veterans are being honored how important these people are to us and what they've done. It was never realized to me until I was an adult and my father was honored at a ceremony. I felt ashaimed that I never knew and appreciated these people before hand. There are many unsung heros out there and we should make sure our children are aware why in a parade they see older gentlemen walking down the street in a parade in uniform caring the flag.
There is a monument in my home town with my father's, uncle's and aunt's name on it. Until this was constructed and they held a ceremony I had no idea the sacrifices my family memebers had made. Let's not forget !

I usually don't get this serious - but this is one thing I believe in.

My love goes out to all the veterans - THANK YOU !!!!!
