Been computer since 2003, haven't looked back to discs since.
After a year of running computer based karaoke I subbed for a buddy of mine who was still running discs and he insisted for me to use his backup system and let me tell you it took me a few minutes to get used to being back using discs.  He finally went computer and when I sub for him now I bring my laptop and external drive with me and run off that.

I've been testing Hoster for 2 years now, just started using it within the last couple months without a problem now, would recommend to anyone.

As of today...Discs
Sometime in the next year or two...Cpu

When I make the plunge to the digital world, I want to dive in full boar...not just dabble in it.  There is no big hurry for me right now, discs work fine!

As a singer I obviously see that computers running software work better because it's easier for the KJ to find the song and queue it up quicker. I believe they always need to have disk capability though so that they can play backings brought in by their singers.

About 6 or 7 years ago we were doing some shows with win98 and cavs software players which do cdg or a cd player. We then evolved to 2k pro and converted to strictly digital. It had developed to a point now where I can replace the cd payers in systems with a laptop, use the onboard sound and improve the audio quality. Esp in a system that the optics need cleaning.

Technology is on the verge of building a karaoke box that wont use inefficient operating systems It will have a few rom chips for karaoke software audio and video. They will be very reasonable is price. And I can imagine the legality arguments on these.
