I want to create  a song recording of my daughter using audacity and using a vanbasco karaoke file as the background. I tried to play the vanbasco file but audacity does not recognize this file. I would like to seek for help regarding this.

Play the MIDI file with VanBasco player and record the output in Audacity. Make sure you chose wav as your in put. That will be you track 1.
Then using the same player, play the same track and let her sing to it while recording her voice only. To do that chose mic as your input. That will be your track 2.
Mix the backing track and the vocal track. If they don't sync, just drag the vox track to sync with the backing.
