If you are running Windows -- as most do -- then you need to find the "Extended Desktop" display mode of your laptop. (Ctrl-Alt-F12 usually goes right there, or use the control panel.) Set the secondary output to "television" and not "monitor".
Once you have that going, it depends on the karaoke software you are using.
Good luck!

Matt (or anyone who knows for that matter)
Since this is already posted here, I'll ask a related question regarding affordable sites online where I can purchase a relatively less costly S-composite video cable to run laptop to television for general home use, (compared to what I see charged for monster cable, and a few other makes that seem high priced for the S-composite). This particular television doesn't have an S cable in, so it would need to be a composite S (computer out) to RCA Phono (television in). Preferable at least 12 feet. Monster cable and a few other companies ask quite a bit for the S-composite video cables that are longer than the very short lengths.
Thanks.
