Hello all friends
I really appreciate if somebody can show me what i need to buy to set up one.  I have a complete karaoke system already but I want to have a PC with the cable out to the Plasma and also the audio from the PC go to my karaoke mixer.  I just want to see what is the best audio card out there so that when it won't lose any quality when it transfer the sound from PC to mixer?  What is the karaoke software i would need for the computer and also the remote so that i can select the songs from the pc from far away and choose the vocal off or vocal on?
Thank you very much for your help

Several programs out there that will do the dual display - you need a video card capable.  Best quality sound is going to be dependant on what bitrate you rip at.  I use MTU Video Hoster with all songs ripped at 192 which is a very good quality since it's based on WMA format.  MP3g ripped at the same bitrate isn't going to be AS high quality but still pretty good.
Don't know of any program that will allow remote control use in the manner that you requested.

Check out unify karaoke.  I believe it's a chinese "made" software.  It doesn't really come with any audio editing software or what not (you can try the demo.. it does come with dvd ripping software and other tools), but just imagine it being an access database (the files are mdb files)  with a "friendly" user interface for you to manage songs.  It's also one of few.. if not the only one program that comes with a remote with a vocal on and off button.  Although i have trouble using it cause I run it through a usb to serial port (the receiver is only compatible with serial port)  So it dies on me on occasion and I have to unplug and reset.

I also have never used any cdg format with the software so I don't know how well it works.  So again this software might not be good if that's the format you want to run.  All my files are readily available Chinese KTVs... (my own collection)  so on the VCDS they are already split into vocal and music channels (L or R), or DVDs I can have 2 audio channels (1 for vocal 1 for music)

thanks for the answer.  I've been reseraching about that and just wonder if the 24 bits sound card would be good enough since it has the 2 a/v output to go to the karaoke mixer and i find that the AtI video card has the option for the S video out to the Tv.  Would that be good enough for not losing any quality during the transfer?

Here's the card I use, sounds great, balanced ins/outs for pro connections.  Blows my Soundblaster I replaced it with out of the water.

S-Video out for karaoke is fine - especially with cdg's.  The quality will lack if doing videos.

There are a number of wireless/remote comtrols that you can add to your PC that will let you do almost all of what you want.  I use two different remotes on multimedia PC's in my home so I can access and play any music, video or mp3+g (karaoke file) on any TV in my home.  I can also browse picture files, watch TV channels. record anything on my TV like a personal video recorder and I can even surf the web using one of the remotes.  No need for a mouse or keyboard- these are remote controls that look basically like your cable or TV remote does.  The two I have the most experience with are the ATI Remote Wonder (not sure if you can play the karaoke files with the software that comes with it) and Snapstream's Firefly PC Remote (I know you can play karaoke through the software that comes with it).  You can read more about both devices at their sites:

http://ati.amd.com/products/remotewonder/index.html

http://www.snapstream.com/products/firefly/

Both remotes have a USB reciever and both work best with ATI video cards (obviously the ATI remote wonder does).  Both also use their own software designed with very easy user interfaces that you can customize or personalize according to your uses/needs.

Snapstream has a couple of different software applications that work with their remote.  Their "Beyond Media Basic" program is enough to let you browse your files on your PC and play your karaoke tracks.  You need to have winamp installed with the mp3G plugin too.  Set the software to use winamp as your mp3 player and it will automatically bring up the graphics view when you play the music file.  no need to open winamp or anything- Beyond Media Basic controls everything- you won't even see winamp open as it uses it's own interface to play the graphics/videos.

So these two remotes will do almost everything ya wanted except have the vocal off/on switch. I have used the ATI remote to access video/music files off my servers but haven't tried the karaoke mp3g's with it.  The Firefly remote can do everything like the ATI remote will but I know for sure that it will play the mp3g files from your PC... I would recommend the Firefly remote definitely since i know 100% that it does most of what you want.  if you decide to get one and have any questions on using it or setting it up, then just gimme a shout and I will walk you through and help as much as I can...
