Ok
My m8 has all the gear for his band.
I have the laptop and a lot of karaoke songs on it for the kids.
Now it's my sons 13th birthday comming up and he wants a party.
so my m8 and i thought ok we put our stuff together and see what happens,Well all went and goes fine untill you turn the music down or off we get  what sounds like a lot of feedback and a horible sqeeal noise.
The question is how do we get rid of it.
I have bought LAPTOP TO MIXER LEAD 2 x 6.35 MONO JACKS - 3.5mm STEREO JACK LEAD but still does it.
Oh i forgot to say his party is in 3 days.... HELP!!!!!!!!

MANY THANKS

Are there any other input devices connected to the mixer?

No as we only set it up quickly to test it.
All i can see so far is some people talking about a loop gound problem??
Cheers

Make sure that the mixer and the computer are both properly grounded.  Next, turn off every other electrical applience including the lights and see if you still have the problem.  Turn the gain on the mixer chanels way down and bring it back up slowly. If so, try different cables.  If the problem persistes try a different sound card.

try it with the mixer running off the battery.  If the noise dissapears it is a ground loop problem.  A qiuick fix, if that is the problem, is to get one of those adapter that lift the ground prong.....

Now the proper way would to use a ground loop isolator....
