Mtu has just released a new microstudio ver 4.0 which has vocal remover, keychange, and mixing together recording voice & music. It is the simplest program I could ever imagine for making your own recordings.  as far as I know, it is the only player that will let you record. check it out, and try the demo. you might like it. The price is sure right. http://mtu.com/basics/karaoke.htm

It's feature rich and $40.00.  Very nice.

Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder allows you to record. So does Karafun.

I am a bass/baritone and often have to step down a bit on songs, so I
have for the past year used Microstudio 2 and 3 along with Keyrite to
change the key of CDG files and then burn them to disk. This allows me
to give a CD to the host and get not only the right version, but the
right key without hassle.

My biggest problems with Microstudio and Keyrite are the clunky user
interfaces. (This applies to MTU hoster as well, but that one is better
suited for it's intended use.) They have the stupidest confirmation
dialogs, and the interfaces are not consistent either with themselves or
with Windows. There are no right-click menus, which has been standard on
all GUIs for the past 10 years.

I would like to heartily recommend the MTU products, all of which I own,
because they do produce good results. But I have to give them a half-
hearted recommendation because of the very poor user interface design.

My big kick agains MTU in the past was that their products were overpriced and under featured.  This does not appear to be the case with Microstudio 4.  As for the user interface... RTFM.

I suggest you RTFP. I didn't say I didn't know how to use it -- I know how to use it and get great results with it. I said that the user interface is bad on all of the MTU products.

Let's be quite clear what you are saying then.  Is the UI difficult to use once you know how?  Are there uncecessary steps?  Is any of the help misleading or incorect?  Is there a lack of help?

Upon re-R-ing TFP it appears that you are just whining for the sake of whining.
No popup menues???!!  My heart bleeds....

I stated my problems with it. Inconsistency, stupid dialog boxes, and lack of controls that are normal in this day and age. It is a very poor interface when compared with the other ones on the market.

For example, in Hoster you have to click through three dialog boxes when you build the song database. None of them tell you anything you can do anything about -- they inform you that you have backed up the database, that you might have to redo your songbook, and that the operation is done. All are blocking. None of them allow you to disable them in the future. That is really poor in this day and age.

Obviously, or you wouldn't constantly lay your attitude on people.
