Hello everyone! It's been quite a long time since I've been here. I subbed one song on the singers showcase and then I had encountered a problem with recording. I hadn't had a chance to really find out what was wrong with it. I was diagnosed with cancer in late 2006 and am getting ready to go through my post-op chemo. I was hoping I could figure out what's wrong with it before I start my treatment because I don't know how I will feel while on treatment. I use the sony acid music studio 6.0b vers. I had no problem using it before. It would record fine but then all of a sudden I would go to record a song and I would get no peaks on my playback.....like it's not recording. I believe I have my connections hooked up right. I have sound coming from my speakers. I record through my karaoke machine into my sound card. Any ideas of why this may be happening? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks so much and I hope to be posting songs on singers showcase again soon. I really miss it.

Hello Kim, for starters make sure that Windows is set to record from "line-in" or "analog mix".  Double click on the 'speaker (volume)' icon in the lower right corner of your monitor.  Go to Options --> Properties --> Select Recording --> Click OK --> Select either Analog Mix or Line In --> Make sure the volume control is turned up.

In the Acid Music Studio, make sure that your soundcard and the proper audio source is selected for recording.  This is probably under Options or Preferences in the Menu.

Hope this solves the problem, no guarantees though. :)

Hello Odie! Thank you so much for responding to my post. I was beginning to think noone would respond. I did try doing this and it appears that everything checked out ok in this area....I don't know what else to check. I e-mailed the sony acid music studio website and hopefully they can help me out. I am almost tempted to check out a free recording program and see if it may be my software. I did try to uninstall and reinstall but, It wouldn't finish the download because my system wasn't modified, whatever that means....lol. Thanks again, Odie. Have a great day! :)

Not familiar with Acid, but I know a great FREE recording program called AUDACITY.  I use it, it is easy and FREE.

Thank you for reaponding to my post. I tried downloading another program called cool edit pro 2.0 but I ran into the same problem as with my other software. Now I'm thinking it may be some other issue not associated with the software. Maybe a hardware or connection issue....I don't know...lol. Kim
