Ok...right now I have a daewoo dvd that supports cdg, I love it!!! My problem with it .....it plays Soundchoice & Sunfly and SBI disc perfect. I can play Singtotheworld and and some ameri-sing disc and top and pop hits cdg's but the words break up where you can't read them I replaced my player with this cheapy on ebay. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=E242289-R It plays everything but the mic control sucks...I hook it up to my surround sound. I just cant get it right. I want a good player to hook up to my surround....any suggestions ? My other question is ....Or would i be better getting some software to play the cdgs through my home computer that has a mic input on it but its a smaller end. electonically I am a dummy... here is another player I have been keeping my eye out on but I would like some feedback on this one as well http://www.sundialmicro.com/rj_tech_rj4 ... 1_897.html |

The first suggestion is, DO NOT use your surround sound for karaoke. The speakers are not designed for live voice and you can ruin them. For home use, a player is a player, as long as it can read CDG. BUT remember you get what you pay for. A cheap unit may or may not have problems and durability may be non-existant. You may want to check other threads for home set up and recommendations, including mixing boards as plugging a mic into a machine is really not the way to go. |

Ah, one of the lucky ones. It's not to say that home stereo equipment won't work used in moderation & not to full volume - like most tend to do, however home stereo gear is NOT designed to reproduce live music which karaoke is half - it's not recommened for live use! I've personally seen (and from forums such as these)many home systems fail (mostly speakers, but occasionally the amp) because of karaoke, they (as a rule) can't handle the uncertanties (uncompressed) that most live vocals can produce, they are designed to reproduce compressed music & movies - home speakers are voiced differently than speakers designed for live use. |

I do agree with Lon and Timber on this one, don't run your karaoke through your surround sond. But baring that.... If you have a player you like, stick with it. Buy a small mixer and a couple of GOOD microphones, and you will be way ahead of the game. mixer.... http://www.behringer.com/MX602A/index.cfm?lang=ENG Mics.... Behringer, Samson, or Shure brand mics |
