Post subject:  Tasteless and Tacky???
I have been working on a new graphics program to go with my new hosting program if and when I ever really get to work on it.  Anyway, I have a liking for 19th century nudes and I was playing around with them, turning them colors an bouncing them around the screen and what-not, and got the idea of using them for backgrounds and putting some sort of animated text over the top of them to anounce the next singer.  The question is, will this be offencive to too many folks?  I know the guys will like it.  Karaoke, beer, naked women, what's not to like?  But I would like to get a female perspective.  So ladies, if you wouldn't mind I would like your opinion.

It's not something that would offend me, personally..... but, you can bet it would be offensive to some who may see it. I guess it depends on what kind of karaoke crowd you have. I would think a younger crowd would be kosher with it, but maybe not the older generation. (men, as well as women)


On a side note.....

I use to collect old photoprints that were posted onto barnboard frames (of sorts- hard to explain), my whole dining room was decorated with them. (like old budweiser girl photos, and coca cola girls). Anyways..... My mom used to tell me about how when she was a young girl, it was NOT fashionable to be "too thin". Girls who were a bit "plump" were envied and considered the most attractive. Look at the gals in your pics- all the older photos are that way- none of them are anorexic looking, like most women these days think they need to be.  Nowadays, most women freak if they wear over a size 3 jean.  LMAO

Dumb subject I brought up, I know, but your photos just got me to thinking about that. If I were a man, those would be much more attractive to me than the rail thin, bony looking chicks you see walking around who are scared to eat a french fry:)

(but, I like the idea you have, I think the old photos are neat.... just not sure the reception you'll get if they pop up on a karaoke screen, totally nude... to be honest)

I wouldn't be offended, but most likely someone will be.  If I were you I'd just choose the safer route and not use them, but that's your call.

Pictures of nude anything bouncing around  on a TV screen at a local Karaoke show is just wrong ...unless you working at a strip club or something.

I don't find it offensive as a woman, but personally, except for the lyrics and a basic list who's going on next, I don't like staring at a screen. Any kind of TV images stop all social interaction! have you even been to a party where the TV is on, and people just stop and stare even when nothing exciting is playing? Keep the experience social and as screen- free as you can, that's my 2 cents.

Ran it through a class of 19 – 58 year olds.
The women were 60% for.
The men were 80% against.
They would not take their partners to such a venue.

Not too much different really from the old Playboy Laser Karaoke discs that had nude and semi-nude videos of varying raciness. More of a curiosity or novelty really. Now if you were having kararoke in in a strip bar then it ould fit right in(and there is a place a few blocks from me that on sunday nights has karaoke with a stripper---sometimes she comes out whirling around the pole wearing nothing but a GAS MASK and COMBAT BOOTS---now theres a sight to see!!--but shes kinda distracting---hard to keep your eyes on the words!!!)......................:)

I used to have the pioneer LPs, and in almost every video, there would be a hot chick in a bikini......well...lol....I'd get so focused on the girls in the video, that I'd end up messing up the words......not to mention, getting a tad horny by night's end........I sold those bad boys..... :)

I don't see the girls in bikinis on the Pioneer - I still have & use them - but the off brand LD such as Tip Top, Nu-Tech, U-Best etc, all had those hot girls.

I definitely remember several, but maybe they weren't all in bikinis....lol....I do tend to exagerate......maybe even fantasize.....lol......anyway, I really wish I hadn't sold them, they are awesome, though I personally found them distracting......just my one track mind I guess,,,,,,,they set the standard, that's for sure.... :)

The Playboy laser disc was lioscened by PLAYBOY and had NUDE women in it. Not just cuties with bikinis.

Again - just starting out again but my opinion is that you don't really want to offend anyone. Any really successful business is one that caters to the masses and not just one target area.

I wouldn't use such things in my show, but for a personal collection it might be pretty cool.

Thank you all for responding.  This has really been an eye-opener for me.  I don't quite understand it all, particularly the reference to strip clubs and topless bars, but the information is valuable none the less.
But, it leaves me at a loss as to what to display between singers on the main output (bar) screen.

How about having choices with themes; ie sexy background, romantic, landscape etc. And the user have a choice of loading more...... can that be done?
