What brand and model of player are you referring to?

Perhaps with a little more info we could help you

the brand and model model is Acesonic DGX-106 . Part of the description says

"You'll now be able to hook-up external USB devices such as flash drives and external hard drives and begin sifting through your data.

i would like to find out if i'd be able to play the Karaoke .MP3 & .CDG file extension & not just to play an external mp3 player or to view photos. I plan on ripping my karaoke CDG's & placing them on a portable HD. Please advise...

Spent time searching it.
Every instance appears to be a copy of the previous.
While the indication given is that it will do what you want,
It could be a dangerous assumption.
Seems like decent kit.
A store may know for sure.

Here is the pdf link for the manual:

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/acekarao ... nic106.pdf

Look on page 11 and it will give you the details.

Looks like you can play your files from hard drive as long as the HD is FAT32

To confirm this call Ace Karaoke and as for their tech guy (only one of them) and he should be able to give a difinitive answer for you.

I was looking at the acesonic system and had the same question so I wrote the company.  The usb port-memory card slot is not designed to play mp3+g.

None play MP3+G Cavs have to be converted to MP3+MCG which is their version of MP3+G. All of them will play karaoke files if you convert to DIVX which is a compressed .AVI file Power karaoke has a good program to do this. If anyone would make a simple usb player that played MP3+G directly I think they would sell like hotcakes. So listen up Player Manufacturers Make them for us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These players are also made by pioneer and V2Go ( the original).  I own the V2GO, and you can read both.  I carry a jumpstick in case of emergencies  ( I'm disc based)
