I just got a new sound card. The M-Audio Audiophile 192. Was planning on getting the Maya or Juli@ originally, but have been told these are being discontinued & Guitar Center are no longer carrying those. Haven't hooked it up yet, am having a new computer being built as we speak, but will give a review when done. http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOAP192 |

My latest box is 64 bit and what really interests me it says it can be used with other brds... I could keep the delt44 and use this for main audio out....Either control panel would control both... I would guess it would use caches more efficiently... Im curious if it still has an updated envy24 chip in it or if its been replaced... |

I don't know about the chip, I really don't keep up on the latest on computer hardware - go figure! But I did do some homework & have heard nothing but good reports/reviews on this one so was willing to give it a shot, plus they matched the price I was going to get the Maya for @ $129 + tax, so figured it was a pretty good deal. |

Lonman, Have they finished your computer? If so, did you test the new sound card? :D |

I bet you'll be QUITE happy with the quality of that card. I have used M-Audio products since 1998 and haven't been disappointed with the hardware. the only problem I have had is with the card I bought in mid 1998 (The predecessor to the Delta 44). It was discontinued some time in 1999 and no driver was ever developed for anything past Windows 98, rendering it useless to me once I decided that Win 98 was not robust enough to do the work I needed a computer for anymore. It makes me wonder about the future support and driver development of current products, but I still end up buying their products, because the quality (sound and otherwise) tends to be excellent. Keep us posted on the success I am sure you will have with it! |
