Nearly all DSP's are midi controllable.
Someone on this forum has written a program that will play or record a midi file when the CDG,  MP3, wav or any other audio starts.

In record mode while the song is playing (in any karaoke or audio program), you can switch your Effects unit to echo, reverb or whatever you want to suit your vocals in the song.
This program would allow those effect changes to be recorded in sync to a midi file recorded by any midi program.. (There are free midi programs available)

Once recorded, every time you play that track, all the effects you previously
selected would happen exactly as they did when you recorded it.
I have this program and it works perfectly.
It will do more than what has just been described.

Please guys, feedback is needed for R&D.
Please be imaginative and constructive,
even critical with your replies.

jerry,

In a digital system, can it control other parameters like vol or gain, comp, gate. etc.
i am assuming it will not work in an analogue system.

Jian,
The magic of this program is that I have only
mentioned midi as an example.
It can control any program.

How sad to be home and sober on a Saturday night!

Thanks for the plug Jerry.  To explain a little about what the program does:
It has a multi-media player built in which means that it can play about any file that Windows has a codec for.  Midi is default because that was the original purpose of the thing.

It also has Macro (sort of) capabilities, which means that it can simulate mouse clicks and keyboard events.  So, suppose you wanted to sync a Midi command file to control a DSP and/or lighting with an MP3+g file in your existing hosting program.  When you click the play button in the new program it ducks out of the way and simulates whatever mouse clicks or keyboard commands (such as a file name) it takes to get your player moving.  At the last command the MIDI track starts and should be synched within about a tenth of a second.  It also has a second bank of controls which does not trigger multimedia file playback but just does the mouse click/keybaord thing.  That's it.

Just set it to play a cdg and record in cool edit.
The more I use it, the more I like it.
