okay, I just bought a system to add to my dj rig, but I have no idea what to call this little "business." Any ideas for good karaoke names? The only thing I can think of is "Kudos Karaoke." :dontknow: |

How 'bout "Free Beer"? |

People always show up for free beer!!! I would keep Karaoke out of the name....It could limit your abilities to do any other type of job with your equipment.... Perhaps "Kudos Productions" |

Just make sure the name you choose do not sound like, look like, or similar to an already establish entertainment co. in your area. |

Karaoke out of the name... Well I was planning on going with "something" Karaoke & DJ Services or similar. I could always go with something like, "Star Struck Entertainment" or "Shooting Star Entertainment." Maybe even "Jukebox Hero Entertainment" Any of those sound good? |

I really like the first two.. To a Karaoke singer it does imply that it is Karaoke.. But to someone who is looking for DJ services it wouldn't be. And Jukebox is pretty cool too.. Gosh any of them would be great..... I would also check the local listing in the phone book and make sure those names aren't taken..... |

Because we use cdg backing and dont play any instruments, our duo is called "No Strings Attached" My parent company that covers everything from the duo, compering, voice over work and sporting commentaries is called Creative Audio NZ LTD. I pay a yearly fee to retain that name as a limited liability company |

Hey purpletib, I htink you are well on your way now to finding the best name. THe info about not using karaoke in the name is something that we learned in a thread a few months back. After many different thoughts were played out that was the end result. Your choices look very good for names for your company, I too prefer the first two. |

purpletib, When I started doing this several years ago, the advice I received was to leave the karaoke out of the name. It has worked out well, as we have been hired for a variety of things, dj, kj, the main service we provide, obviously, along with emcee, hosting talent shows(not karaoke contests), asked to rodeo announcer, improv, christmas shows, skits, and more. My advertising and brochures, etc ., is where I explain all the entertainment I can provide. Referrals have also been a big plus for us. We are also capable of doing a lounge act, and bringing in a band when and if that is what the customer wants, and more. I like the first two of your ideas for a name .......Good luck on your venture. Sheyenne |

The name of my company Is Flipside Entertainment....originally it was Flipside Karaoke but I found that I did not get as many DJ bookings even though I offered the service. Once I changed the name my DJ bookings increased considerably. Amazing what one word will do to peoples perception of your business LOL Take your time and find one that sets well with your current clientel. |

Check your area, I bet Shooting Start or Star Struck, are already used in your area. I bet anything with STAR in the name for a karaoke company is the most used word. Googl search it before you choose your name. |

There is hardly anything listed in my area, but there are al lot of karaoke set-ups. The only way to really know is to hit all the bars and find out. Also good to know who your competition is, what they are doing, what you could do differently, etc. I will check with all the names, but I don't think I'm in too much danger. The biggest company in the area is R & S Karaoke. The consensus on my car forum is Kudos Karaoke, which I do kind of favor. |

It does have a good sound/hook to it. In my area there is Rising Star, Star Struk, UB the Star, Starlight, and about any other combonation of words with star in them for name. It's been OVER DONE here, and I find it kinda cheesy. |

'scuse me...I dont think Star is cheezy at all. We dont have anything with star in the name in our area except for ours Star Sounds. I think its worked well for us . I also like the karaoke in our name seein as it is the "primary" thing we do. On our business cards and website we do list dj services now . We didnt used to b/c we really didnt have enough of a dj library but we do now. I prefer karaoke over djing b/c I dont really like to judge crowds. BUT we do what we gotta do to stay in this ratrace called business ya know ?! |

Both those names exist. I don't know if that necessarily means you can't use them or not assuming you aren't within a certain proxymity. Not sure how this works regarding such rights |
