Hi, I have just bought a faulty laptptop off ebay. It was advertising karaoke files, but wont boot. I buy fauly laptops, repair them and sell them at a profit.. Once working it did indeed contain karaoke files. Can you imagin the temptation It's enormous. NO Bigger than enormous... What should I do... |

No my spok eared friend. You initially do think and feel No way. If someone gave you "$10000000 would you simply burn it because it came from Las Vagas It is so easy to pass judgment on what you have not experianced. |

Morgan... What would I do without you. This is pretty much a hypothetical scenario. I often repair such laptops. I always format the drive. I was simply trying to create some excitement. Sorry. |

jerry12x, Sorry, but it is VERY easy for me to pass judgment on what "I" would do. Having been a public servant most of my adult life, YOU have no idea what "offers" I have refuted. Kelly |

I would certainly want to make sure I have NOT been made an accessory to a bank robbery, or any type of felonious act. If the person giving me that sum of money was Bill Gates NO, I'd not burn that sum of money. If it were a stranger and it just appeared on my door step, this would pose an interesting delemma. I would not necessarily trust a seller on Ebay that was willing to pass 10 million to the highest bidder either quite honestly, but, if you bid on faulty computers, assuming a stolen diamond happens to be stashed in that computer, you still become an accessory in lieu of the fact you are in possession of it EVEN assuming you aren't aware of this fact. In this case you have admitted to knowing right from wrong, and are questioning "Is it acceptable to knowingly do something I know isn't supposed to be done". I don't know what *I'd* do. Money is marked, and in the case of robberies this is what authorities look out for. NOW, assuming it was small bills, I'd probably get a forklift in order to relocate it to under my mattress, which would be it's new home... In the interim, I'd of course have to knock my ceiling out to raise my bedroom ceiling so I could sleep on top of it all though :( Upstairs neighbor might get suspicious. So in brief, 10 million dollars appearing suddenly assuming you wish to enjoy that type money IS NOT easy to conceal. You better think twice. |

I can live with that. Sorry if I offended anyone. It was a saturday night. Stuck in on my own. Things moving slow. and I'm stuck with a Liverpool sence of humour. I think software piracy is just as rife in the UK as it is were you are. For the most part they dont do it for profit. They just give it away. I for one would give away coppies of Microsft's products. I believe their pricing policy is outragous. We pay a lot more for it than you do. |

Actually it's an interesting hypothetical example that I enjoy pondering. When it comes to pirating however, it bothers many around here. |

That is one thing I do realise. May I be the first one to say I have done things wrong in my life. Not big things, and yes. I am not perfect... |

I know, but I have in my life done things taking a calculated risk "Hoping nobody finds out". I think MOST at some point have. Beit Pot, drinking underage, driving over the speed limit, etc. MOST of us aren't Saints all the time. So I'm just contributing this to the banter. Alot in life is tempting. There are areas of Grey in this too. It's not always black or white. change and legislation ARE the result of people disagreeing with certain current laws. OF course arguably we all have a right to disagree with laws. It's the actions that make an act wrong... But still.... I'm no Saint LOL Discussion regarding "ethics" are interesting |
