"You are Everything" or "Make me feel Brand New".
Stylistics.

(I'm wondering about the Spinners too  :D   Specifically "Living A Little Laughing A Little ".)  Very nice song !

You've got a great ear Steven, he'd sound killer on all the above (wonder if he'd consider "all the above" a choice lol)

Cat's eye..

How about these as well

Love TKO-  Teddy P.
You are My Lady-  Freddie Jackson

(I've backed vocalists in the R&B genre since and before these songs came out.  Either band setting, or keyboards.. This is one area of my experience,  I've been with some very good R&B bands)  and I really really miss it !  I LOVE THIS stuff !  If anybody wants private in depth critique on R&B, and can handle true honesty.  In THIS genre,  It would be my pleasure to take the time to listen all the times it takes, and offer an educated opinion I might have. BUT just opinion :)  I have to admit,  FEMALE vocals for me, although I've worked with many in R&B are MUCH tougher for my ear to Critique than male vocals.. I don't know why... IN fact I'm thinking about this now for the first time... I think perhaps because female timbre and style has taken SO many turns over the course of the decades in the R&B genre.

Anyway,  I enjoyed Crooners rendition of "LALA means" more than Thom Bell (Delfonics) because although appropriate for the time, Bell had a bit too much raunch in his voice for my tastes... I like Crooners smoother rendition.  He didn't even change keys on it... He was able to hammer it out in the original key

Hey Crooner,  If you ever need a fill-in bassist for you band lemme know.  Guitar and Keyboard would take me awhile to brush up on... I was weaned on these songs !

I can hop the Bridgeport ferry, and come across the Sound.  (Well, perhaps I'd be safer swimming across from New Haven  LOL )

Ooooooooh, now you're talkin'--especially the Freddy Jackson  :worship:

Why don't we throw some Luther at him too.  And since you brought up the Spinners.........

Cat's eye view,  I need your help here since I'm drawing a blank..

In "Going round in circles"....  He starts the Ohhhhhhhh  YEah...

Who's timbre did he pretty much nail there ?   I can't think of who that closely resembled (by name that is right at this point)..

To my ears he was almost a dead ringer for the Stylistics front man, Russellllll (hang on while I Google it) Thompkins, that was it!  But I also hear a bit of Smokey in his falsetto also

We have a singer around the joint that probably would be perfect on this...I'll ask him if he's interested.
