this is why I don't upgrade my winamp. I'm still working on 2.9 version!
I know others have gone on to version 5 and enjoyed it... but I decided to stick with what's working for me!

I have a problem with my new set-up involving pitch control. I have a PC system with digital cdg files played thru Sax and Dotty's, and Winamp with plugins. Pacemaker is my control software and the problem is that whenever I change the key up or down the sound goes funky kinda like "organ music". I've checked with Ollie as to my hardware set up and he says it should work fine. I am wondering if it could be my sound card which is std. issue for Compaq office desktop and nothing special. I am using latest versions of Winamp and Pacemaker. Is there something else that I am missing here? The sound card has numerous tabs with configuration parameters that I wouldn't have a clue about. Do I need to reset these parameters? (They are at default values presently) Or do I need to buy a "high end" sound card to expect proper sound? Any help is greatly appreciated. I've been fighting this problem for months, checked all the forums, contacted hardware and software consultants and still no luck. Anyone have any ideas that may help ?! I would guess that maybe you have a bad plugin or dll somewhere. COMPLETELY uninstall Winamp and Sax & Dotty's. This includes any files in your c:\Program Files\Winamp folder, and if you are brave enough, delete any reference to Winamp in the registry. Reboot. Only after you have done all of the above, reinstall Winamp, then Sax & Dotty's. If doing a clean reinstall like that doesn't fix it (I suspect that it will), report back and let's see if we can dig deeper. |

yep some of the upgrades had huge issues with plugins. It may also help to install sax and dottys into winamp |

I agree with you. I have upgraded to 5.x and now my winamp stutters. I have been playing with the plug-in settings, but can't quite get the same smooth sound I used to get. I'm using 5.32 without any probs here. But I never upgrade on the gig laptop. Mind you although its installed I rarely use the pacemaker pluging on the lappy because I have changed the key permanently to suit me on this puter and then transfered it already edited to the laptop. Only time the pacemaker gets a work out is if husband decides to be a prima donna or someone asks to sing with us |

I have had very little issues with stutter but I also don't use the keychanger in my computer. Pacemaker is just too inferior to an outside keychanger. Even a step down or up muffles the audio so I don't use it. Add to that I have always done a live key change to test what fits the voice before restarting the song and the lag time in changing keys is very slow in my opinion. The only software that got the keychanger right is MtU's Hoster. |

pacemaker works PERFECTLY for the 2.8 version... dunno what you've tried, but THAT one is just fine! |

I use winamp 5. and have no problem with pacemaker. I do have problem with some video format. |

I found out what is causing the stutter or slow down in winamp. When I boot up my laptop and starts playing winamp alone, the sound is fine. As soon as I open up Internet Explorer, winamp starts stuttering. I'm using the latest version of winamp and Internet Explorer. |

My laptop has a Celeron processor, but it was okay before I upgraded to the latest version of IE. I just installed the latest version of the other popular browser, Mozilla Firefox, and the stutter does not happen. Dang! I better stick with Firefox or the older version of IE. |

normally I have sax n dottys open, two folders mine and husbands, plus a search page plus another winamp open for playing music during our breaks. avast runs in the background and I have never had probs I am running an entry level laptop with a sempron chip (Yay AMD!!!!) |

I'm using my laptop at home, so I play winamp while surfing. When I have a gig, I naturally don't surf the net and only open apps that I really need. Mozilla Firefox rocks! |
