Post subject:  Galaxy personal monitors

I posted this in the discussion forum about stages and monitor usage but I thought I would get more responses here.

Has anyone ever used or experienced the Galaxy personal monitors http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=601401 or similar products. I am thinking of incorporating this package into my show with the master as my personal monitor(as I normally have to setup beside the performing area) and the slaves for the singers. Positioning these to the side, pointed at the singers,on mic stands would seem to solve the monitor/space issue. Any experienced comments or comparable suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes they work fine & fill the void of a show that needs a small monitor in tight places.

I appreciate that lon and I saw your reply on the other post. I just thought I might get more action by starting a thread with this as the main topic rather than it being a tangent on another thread.

I have seen similar units in use and they did the job nicely for small venues.  I am in the beginning stages of designing and building something similar for my system, for just such an emergency, when my full sized monitors would be overkill.

I have a Fender 1270P monitor that works well for me.  I've put it on the floor by the TV stand, under my table facing out (behind the singers), just about anywhere.  It doesn't mount on a stand though.   I remember seeing one set up where there was a small powered speaker mounted sideways under the TV stand tray.  That was very compact and worked well for that particular venue.

I use the same 1270P and I love my monitor. It puts out 100 watts in a such small package and it's very portable. It sounds pretty decent as well. I also put it at the bottom facing up at a angle below the LCD flatpanel monitor. Actually, it acts as an anchor for my LCD stand.
