Can I assume you are going through a midi sound module because the midi sound from a sound card is dreadful. If you are, simply copy the kar files to disk as data |

If you are, simply copy the kar files to disk as data okay, i feel dump at the moment and am puzzled by what you wrote (hehehehheheh) i am VERY new to all this, let me start by saying ... i am nowhere close to knowing 1/3 the knowledge of karaoke that you guys know ... i did all that i did thru research and reading from this forum ... *this all started cuz my two daughters LOVES to sing and they are always singing. so, i got alot of midi (as well as cd+g) karaokes and installed into my IMB T40 laptop, then i installed KaraFun (as well as Power Cd+g player) for them to just play and sing to it ... this is all i know how to do so far ... i am REALLY not looking to get all high tech or professional, just some good old - simple fun for my kids. now we got a malata player 6838 ... i just wanted to burn those midi files in my laptop to a dvd, instead of cd, so they use it on the malata, since alot of the songs from the malata then don't really like or know. as far as the sound quality, well, it is GREAT to have good sound quality ... but this is REALLY just for my kids to have fun and i don't think they really care or knows the differences so at the moment i am not trying to get technical over it. now that i have explained my situation, CAN some1 PLEASE advice ... thanks again !!! |

Sorry mate. Its just not that simple. Midi karaoke files dont contain any music. You can convert it to music as you already know. That can be burned to dvd. Trouble is... that is a conversion process that does not keep the words. There would be no karaoke. Just a backing track. I will along with others help in any way we can. |

Sorry, midi itself is data. for example... play piano1 sound, A has been pressed, it has been pressed so hard. It has all the information to play a fantastic midi or kar file. But no music. A kar file is simply a midi file with an accompanying lyrics track. If you do decide to run on a pc, you could get an old one cheep. midi or kar is not hi tech. Even midi players in the form of a second hand yamaha or other midi keyboard go for next to nothing, and will give you a sound far superior than a computer alone. You wont even need amplifiers. Twenty years ago my sister sang on stage using midi files. They sounded fantastic then. They have to be better now. Afraid if you want to use your karaoke player, you will have to get the disks. I usually have the ability to bodge things. Honestly... there is no work around for this. |

Another sorry. Just pulled this off the net The good: Records video in Windows Media 9.0 format; solid DVD playback; plays streaming movies and videos from the Internet; browses the Web. The bad: Recordings won't play back in most standard DVD players; poor recording quality; buggy interface; weak on-demand movie and video selection; clunky Web browsing; so-so remote. The bottom line: This unique, apparently do-everything DVD recorder can't really do anything right. |

TIA !!! ok you will need to convert midi to wave to burn a music disc. midi is an acronym for musical instrument digital interface. To be able to hear it as music you need a midi player either in a computer or a keyboard. To transform to wave or mp3 so as its burnable it will have to be playing via a midi player while you record it (Unless there is now a programe that will convert). Having done this however, you will not automatically have the text included in your recording. You will have to add that with software the likes of dart karaoke studio or similar. Its time consuming to say the least. As Jerry suggested you are best to play your midi via a sound module so as it sounds its very best for you to record. Otherwise you will get a tinny tinkling sound. The question has to be asked why would you use midi when you can purchase cdg discs that are full instrumentation and backing vocals and sound so much better? |

Morgan I dont believe you said that. Midi through a good sound module is far superior to any cd audio. I have to assume you have only heard mediocre systems. A good midi player is like hearing a live performance. But I love you girl... you live near Aussie |

Not at all sir, I used midi exclusively till not that long ago. I had an old 486 computer with an yamaha xg daughter board on the soundcard. I got quite adept at editing midi as most that I had were general midi so the drum channel had to be changed for xg. I agree that well made midi can indeed rival cd quality. Sadly very few come up to that standard |

But I love you girl... you live near Aussie This is only true if you get a professional level equipment, like professional keyboard that costs thousands of dollars. Most of karaoke crowd rely PCs for MIDI playback or cheap karaoke players. The instrument samples and D/A converters really suck at this. I would agree with Morgan in most part that MIDI sounds terrible and I would avoid it with like a plaque when it comes to Karaoke. I have pro musician friends who use MIDI all the time in their professional endeavor and some products do sound awesome, like playing through my friend's Hammond keyboards. The piano and organ sound out of that keyboard is just awesome. It also costs like $2k and it's mostly good for piano sounds. Their horns sound terrible. |

Post you tomorrow I still say BigDog for President Jerry I am not sure what you are talking about here...perhaps its a good example why folks who over tipple shouldnt be in charge of a keyboard... But I would just like to ask you this...were you not the one asking for a musician to lay a backing track for your sister's music? If you are such a superior midi maker why did you need anyone elses help? |

Morgan yes I am midi oriented. Tecknically. I am not a musician, I can play sax, I can play guitar a bit. I can play keyboard a bit. I have even written songs that have been sung on stage. I can do many things. Infact I dont impose limitations on myself. I could create the midi file. It would simply take me 50 times longer than it would a real musician. I could step by step sequence Cant even remember what the post was now. Get back to you, HEE HEE, Oh (@$%!)... wheres the toilet |

OK back and refreshed. Morgan like I said I'm not a musician. Yes I could do it. You know what would be missing though. Heart. Feeling. I could not put that into a track. Only a feeling musician could do that. I hear so many tracks that the heart is missing from. Even SC. Dont want it for my sis. Morgan you heard hear. She deserves better than I could give her. I may even forgive you for living in NZ instead of Aussie. Dont count on it though... |
