I'm seeing a lot of pages on the web that recommend using a video card for each monitor. That is not to hard to handle. |

Rich and I are beta testing a program for Meep 70... It is am online program. Perhaps he will chime in and tell us where it is...I beleive it works with winamp....It is pretty cool we used it last weekend.. Of coarse we only had 3 singers but it was still pretty darn cool.... |

I have been toying with AutoKDJ. To be fair, it isn't my project, but it is in beta, so I guess we count as beta testers. AutoKDJ is a plugin for the Media Library in Winamp. It handles rotation management, singer history, song entry and all that. autoKFE is the front end to use on kiosk machines. AutoKFE is a little kludgey, but it looks like it will be quite nice once it reaches its final stages. www.autokdj.com click on the link for their forums to look for links of the latest packages. It is a free program, so nothing to lose by trying it. Looks like the most recent version of Swift Elite also has a kiosk functionality that might be worth looking into, but it is pricey, in my opinion, compared to other offerings. |

Nobody wants to spend $600 on a good microphone and they think a good sound system costs $1000 and you want them to spend $20,000 on computerized remote request stations???? ![]() ![]() |

Bigdog, you are a sad, sad, man. Nobody requested your pompous opinion, and you certainly had nothing pertinent to contribute to the conversation. You, my friend, seem to be a waste of bandwidth. |

![]() Can't handle the truth??? ![]() ![]() Even if I were to subscribe to the truth according to Bigdog, I would still think you are a pompous PITA. I am not sure where you get your info on how much each of us paid for our sound systems (as if it matters), or where you get your impression that your wireless mic sounds better than an equivalent (though much less expensive) wired version with the same capsule. You have made it clear, in your posts, that if it didn't cost top dollar, it must be inferior. You are a slave to the almighty dollar sign. Not in the thrifty sense, not in tthe working hard, busting your butt sense, but in a way that makes you think you are better than anyone who hasn't bought the same components you have, because something less expensive served their needs better than your over-priced overkill drivel that you harp on so much. As for the kiosks... $20,000? Where did you come up with such a figure? The same place you buy your microphones? Maybe for furniture grade mahogany podiums with built-in touch screens, and full multimedia capabilities, but we're not talking about that, here. My approach is a bit different from what karyoker presented, but not radically so. My needs could be more than adequately served by modest web terminals or thin clients that wouldn't even need hard drives to run (think: boot from a live CD customized to run as a kiosk) that could be networked easily. In the end, my system (including computers-assuming 5 terminals, plus my laptop as a "server") will probably cost less than 1/3 of yours (not counting the music investment, which everyone pays close to the same for, presumably). Of course most of that money will be saved on microphones, alone. ![]() |

Yea Ive had the same ideas meep This just struck me as a slightly different concept Ive got 3 or 4 old monitors that I havnt tossed and know others with the same I wouldnt put lcd monitors in most off the venues anyway...Then all It would take are some wireless keybrds and mice.. I would only be looking at 2 or 3 Two search and one with singer rotation.. It wouldnt take that much to do it... Just food for thought... |

And then a couple of screens with the singer rotation on it.... And pomos..... So would those singers be able to enter the songs from the kiosks or would they look them up and then write them down or tell the to KJ? |

On a system liek that, it is my assumption that the user would be able to enter their own songs in the rotation--or at least enter them so that the KJ could sort them electronically. A paper and time saver, either way. |

_________________ Im not sure Franks original idea was to have the option of either way When I was going hort and heavy I got to the point to where I prefered all their songs at once Then Id que them accordingly Thats the one missing ingeredient in rox.. Auto multiple song que.. If the software worked with their singer history and accepted and put their songs into their pool then rotated through them would be what I want... They could even select the order just like they turn in slips or change it or add something.. It wouldnt work with all singers but if most got used to it and started doing it would be nice.. When I go somewhere I want to turn in 3 or 4 songs and party I dont have time to sit there selecting all the time... Also it would nice to walk over to a screen click in a song and be done with it... Ive had some of my regs actully search and que up a song.. because at one time or another they have actually used it at a party etc.... |
