I put this thread on the technical side yesterday but have yet to see a response so I thought I'd try this side.
I purchased CompuHost as my Hosting software after much consternation with the other software choices out there. It has an audio board (14-16 buttons) that you can throw sound bytes out there at pre-determined points to liven up the place. For instance if a singer does a great job but the crowd is small it has an applause button that subs very real applause. One of my earlier discussions someone mentioned that they had a Helicopter sound byte that actually had people diving under the tables thinking a Helo was about to land. I'd like to get this byte. I'm also curious as to what other sound bytes are out there, and if you would care to share?
Thanks beforehand for the responses.

Check eBay or some other places online for Sound Effects CD's. Then convert the sounds you want into MP3's (or whatever format your system uses) and you should be good to go.

Search the internet and you'll find millions of them. If they come in .wav format you will just need to get a converter, like Acoustica, that will convert them to use with Compuhost.
I am just about ready to evaluate Compuhost, myself. I already have PCKJ, but have never used it due to the lack of support and improvements.

Ben.
There are tons of FREE sound effect on the NET. Here is an example of one site that I use: http://www.webplaces.com/html/sounds.htm
You need not losd those clips to your hosting progarm but use a diffrent program to play them I use mixere to play those clip. It use very little cpu power and can play many track at a time if needed, you can do loop etc and its free. get it from http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Mixere/
I hope that help

Almost forgot...icenine, CompuHost is a great program so far, one of the easiest to understand and run that I've run across. Had problems with most of the others, but CompuHost seemed to fit perfectly. In the process now of downloading all my songs to hard drive, very time consuming. My desktop (show computer) has been following me around like a laptop...work...home....bar.....work...home...bar...etc.
Almost done, got a couple hundred songs to go then I'll be digital. Can't wait to run the show with CompuHost, the differing screen backgrounds, the professional fade in/fadout and the video clips and instant messaging are great tools to have. The professional look of a PC run show is a definate plus too!
Hope you like it...

I did mess around with Compuhost this weekend and I loved it. I planned on using PCKJ and have had the program for over a year, but with all of the problems with PCDJ-FX, that I, and others have encountered, I decided to look for something better. I could never get the motivation that I needed to rip all of my CDG's to MP3+G because I was worroed about what other problems I would run into using PCKJ. I am very excited to star using Compuhost and will begin ripping tonight.
I did run into a small problem with CDG's that I had ripped last year, though. I ripped them and named them 'artist - title'. I think I will need to go in and rename all the tracks and include the MFG disc #. When I imported them into Compuhost, only the first name appeared in the artist field. Anybdy know of an easy was to do this? I do own a copy of Tag & Rename, maybe this will do it.
I will still use PCDJ for regular gigs, but I can really see Compuhost taking my karaoke show to the next level. I like to use sound effects as part of my show, and I can't wait to start.
Icenine
Ps. Jian, thanks for the tip on Mixere, looks like something I can use!

Search some actor/comedian/movie name Soundboard
One thing though, please be current, use a Borat "Very Nice" instead of a Lil Jon "Yeah!" ala Dave Chappelle Show

You don't need to rename those files, just select "Artist, Title" as the file naming format when you are importing them into Compuhost using the mp3+g import feature. Thats what I did and it worked perfectly.
