Hopefully someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I just purchased the CFX 12 MKII and have had difficulty getting it to sound good. I was using a DFX 12 and have had to go back to that until I can figure out what I'm doing. A couple of concerns: 1- When using the interal effects I'm noticing the clip light coming on quite a bit and I hardly have the mic turned up. How should the internal effects be set? 2- The overall sound isnt very good I'm wondering if it is the way I have it setup. I currently run a 882i maximizer, JBL 18 sub, and 2 JBL g2 eons. The board is a lot more complicated than the DFX12 and I'm sure the sound is superior but I can not seem to figure it out so if there is any suggestions you could give me on connections to some basic manditory settings to make sure I'm maximizing the mixer. If anyone using this board could give me some advice it would greatly be appreciated. :D |

Hit the PFL button for the channel and with the channel eq set flat adjust the input trim so that the output meters peak around 0dB. In actual use (ie. PFL off) I have the channel panned centre and use bus1 & 2 with their sliders set at OdB (unity) and the master fader around unity or just under. Keep the FX2 send on the channel somewhere around 11 o'clock and the master FX2 send around the same. Use the master FX2 send level to control the clipping. My FX2 reurn is pretty sensitive as there is a large signal coming from the internal FX and typically my FX2 return is only around 9 o'clock. GH |
