So, this is a question for KJ's out there. I really try not to sing too much, but there are certain songs I do pretty well. I also try to learn new stuff just to keep versatile, but I'm not a really great singer. Songs I do pretty well with: Blue on Black - Kenny Wayne Shepard Too Funky - George Michael The Tin Man - America Diamonds and Pearls - Prince Cream - Prince Oh Sheila - Ready for the World Mr. Brownstone - Guns -n- Roses Need You Tonight - INXS Silent Lucidity - Queensryche Della Brown - Queensryche Get Down On It - Kool & The Gang Get To Know Ya - Maxwell I'll Be Good To You - Brothers Johnson P Control - O{+> Do Me Baby - Prince Let's Go All The Way - Sly Fox The Most Beautiful Girl in The World - O{+> Smooth - Rob Thomas & Santana When I Fall in Love (sung with my wife) - Celine Dion & Clive Griffin Kiss the Girl (Sebastian) - Little Mermaid soundtrack California Love - Dr. Dre & Tupac (I usually do Dre's part) I'm sure there's some others I'm missing - what songs do you other KJ's really enjoy singing & are really good at |

Ya know, Louis, I'm not sure how this will benefit you, or anyone else? But you asked, you're new here, and so I'll be happy to oblige. In terms of male country music - just about any song by: Geo Strait, Merle Haggard, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, John Conlee, Ronnie Milsap, Statler Bros, Marty Stuart, Hal Ketchum, Rodney Crowell, Earl Thomas Conley, Willie Nelson, Dan Seals, Vern Gosdin, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Robbins, Don Williams, Mel McDaniel, Eddy Raven, Eddie Rabbit, Kenny Rogers (and a few other artists that didn't pop into my mind). In terms of female country music (words changed where necessary) - Crazy, Down At The Twist & Shout, I Fall To Pieces, Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like That, Jose Cuervo (by Shelly West), Don't Tell Me What To Do, I'd Choose You Again, Forever And For Always, She's In Love With The Boy, Mama He's Crazy, Grandpa, Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses, Where've You Been, Texas When I Die, Delta Dawn, When Will I Be Love, It's So Easy, Silver Threads and Golden Needles (and a few more that haven't popped into my mind). DUETS: Paradise By DBL, Somewhere Out There, The Time of My Life, Summer Nights, You're The One That I Want, Pancho & Lefty, What's Your Name, any song by the Everly Bros, To All The Girls I Loved Before, Let It Be Me, Nobody Loves Me Like You Do, Jackson, Picture, Mama Don't Let Your Babies Growup..., On The Road Again ANY DOOWOP, just about, and from around the same era: Most any Sam Cooke, Johnny Mathis, Righteous Bros, Jay and The Americans, Clyde McPhatter, Platters, Marvin Gaye, Brook Benton, Johnny Rivers. Then there's Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival.... I'll think I'll stop now! |

"Nobody" - love it. One of the first "country" songs to catch my attention. It taught me to appreciate just how real, clever and cute country lyrics often are! |

Wow! You all are awesome! Thanks for the info. There are so many new songs I want to try, but I have not the time to learn them. I'm always so busy with my day job & my home life. My wife gets a little upset when I'm not devoting attention to her, and rightfully so. I want to learn more country, because a lot of my audience sings it. But they are very gracious whatever I do, so I have some awesome regulars. They all bring their friends in to come have fun at the show too. :) I want to sing some Sinatra, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Eagles, Barry White (everyone says I sound like him - might as well learn his songs), LTD, more Prince... so many others. I just don't have the time. My customers are a lot of fun, though - when they're not sloppy drunk (haha). Oh, that's another thing, I very rarely drink at my shows with my bar tab because first of all , I don't drink really -and I want to stay fresh & sharp for them. |
