I heard Speilberg is making "Raider of the last karaoke Disk" (should be an epic like Duets)

Not a movie about Karaoke per se but there is a movie called "Happy Endings" with Lisa Kudrow, Maggie Gyllynhaal and Laura Dern that had a few scenes of karaoke. Also a movie called "Black Rain" with Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia that had a karaoke scene, in Tokyo no less. That's all I remember so far.

well, "Black Rain" wasn't "karaoke" but more "live-okie"... they sang to a band, as did the other regulars.

Other memorable Karaoke movies... or moments in movies

"My Best Friend's Wedding" had a very memorable karaoke scene with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, where Diaz is handed a wireless mic, and is singing a song, and doing SUCH a horrid job that it was a hypnotizing trainwreck, and she ended up getting a standing ovation...

Whatever that Britney Spears movie she was in where she sang "I Love Rock N Roll"...

Yeah, Britney, the glorified karaoke singer.  Prove that you can market a turd and people will love it.

Can we not forget Jim Carey in "Cable Guy" rendition of "Somebody to love".  I bout peed my pants when I first saw that.

That would be a riot. An audience participation musical.

Sharon, I'm thinking of writing one myself actually. Except, it will be for Broadway, not movies... kind of a Shakespearean type play... I was gonna call it:
"To fluff, or not to fluff, that is the question".

LOL

There's a great karaoke scene in "Joe Somebody" (2002) with Tim Allen that was shot in my hometown of Minneapolis.

Rush Hour 2 has a good karaoke scene with Chris Tucker & some asians
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - J Love doing "I Will Survive"

I'm sure there are other, but I can't think of any right now

Out, damned fluff! out, I say!-- One; two; why, then 'tis
time to do't ;-- What need we fear who knows it, when none can call
our power to account?--Yet who would have thought the old man to
have had so much fluff in him?

A thread talking about movies with karaoke in them and no one has mentioned Lost In Translation?

I heard about a short documentary film following a few people who traveled around competing in karaoke contests.  Can't remember the name.   I understand that the contestants come off as rather pathetic figures.

Has anybody actually seen Duets?  Is it any good?  If The Karaoke King ever gets released on DVD I guess I'll have to see it.
