I just bought my first board -- a Behringer PMH3000. (I am not a KJ,
just a hobbyist.) I want to try recording some, and I bought a condenser
microphone, and a 3-wire XLR cable.

I plugged up a Sennheiser e935 dynamic to the channels, and was able to
get output and record. Then I turned on phantom power on the board,
hooked up the condenser mic, and looked at the level meter. After some
power-up indications on the meter, the condenser mic didn't work at all.
(I did let the channel settle some as they recommend.)

I put a multimeter on the XLR and verified that 48V was going to the
microphone.

Is there something I am missing? While I understand audio a bit more
than the average guy on the street, I am really a novice when it comes
to the more professional equipment.

If it's a large condenser it probably has recharable batterys.  If this is the case plug it in and turn the phantom on and give it about a hour to charge.  Then try it.

Where is the gain (very top knob on the channel strip) set on the channel the condenser mic is plugged into?  Is the mute button pressed on that channel?

Thanks for the suggestions -- I think it was a battery situation, as it works now! (Guitar Center didn't give me a manual for it, and I couldn't find the manual on the web.)
