Anyone have expierence with the Shure Mic cables?  I'm looking into getting a couple of new cables, mine are all about 6-10 years old....I wish I could find information on checking for resistance with a meter and what it should read, to verify if they are good or not.  No luck in looking for it so far.  I think worn out cables, maybe some of my microphone issues, the one has been touchy since I got it and sometimes have to wiggle it and play with it to get it to work.  Although they appear to be in great shape.  So I am looking for thoughts on what cables that some of you use and if you are happy with them or not.  Thanks, MrD

They should read less than an ohm and while checking flex the cable at each end The mic end is usually the one that goes bad When they do I just cut off about 4" and redo the ends...

Cables are pretty much just that.  A 10 guage monster cable microphone isn't going to sound much different than a $10 Rat Shack special - you may hear a slight difference.  Now with that being said, get a mic cable with a lifetime warranty.  It's worth the extra initially, then when it goes out, you send it back & exchange for a new one.  Guitar Center has these in stock & generally will exchange in store.

You may want to check that little screw & tighten it down toward the bottom of the mic.  This may be why you have the 'play'.

Check out the mic cables from speakerrepair.com.  I bought mic cables from this store and I am very happy with them.

karyoker is spot on.
cables only seem to ever get damaged at the ends.
They can break such that only a few strands of a multi strand cable are connected.
I have to assume you dont have a meter.
OK buy a 9 volt battery. Short the cable accross it.
If your cables week, it will blow the few remaining connections.
If the cable is good. Use the battery to warm up your bed.
