Post subject: | Amps - Low-Cut Filters |
I have two Low Frequency jumpers on the back of my amp. Low Cut Filter on/off Low Cut 50Hz/30Hz I find I get the best sound with LCF off and LC30Hz. Am I endangering my speakers? My amp is an EP2500 (behringer). The manual says the LC50Hz is supposed to give a fuller sound but I find it sounds empty and LCF on is supposed to protect against frequencies under 5Hz. My speakers are Cerwin Vega PSX-153 3 ways. I also use Behringer B1520 Pros as a backup set of mains. |

Actually if you have the low cut filter switched off, the 30/50 switch shouldn't be doing anything. |

That's probably the case. What's optimal? Do I risk the speakers by having the low-cut filter turned off? |

Unless you are having problem with low frequency rumble, first switch the mics low frequency switch on on the mic channels. If the mixer don't have that, then yes I would probably run the low cut filter on at minimum30 hz but probably 50 & compensate the music channel eq a bit. |

Thanks Lonnie. For clarification, unless I'm hearing something out of the ordinary (rumble), having the Low Cut off isn't damaging to the speakers ... musically? I do have the mic channels low cut on. Of course your answer will be filtered for subjectivity ... :) |
