okay, okay, everyone has new year's traditions.  you know, black eyed peas, fireworks, resolutions......we play The Eye's of Texas and Texas Fight (University of Texas songs) each year at midnight.  What original tradition do YOU have?

LOL see my life must be pretty boring cause I don't have any. I'm lucky if I can get out most New Years'. The coolest New Year I ever had was in England, in Southampton. People were setting off fireworks all over and I was in an apartment building on the 14th floor. lol Eye level fireworks was pretty freakin cool. Now I need to start a new tradition... maybe I'll steal some ideas from this thread!

If we don't have a gig .... we have a nice dinner together (usually ordered in) ..... and then either watch videos or play a computer game.  This year... we'll prolly do a little of both.  We have a gig .... but when we get home, we'll toast in the New Year together ..... and then probably play Black & White 2, which we got for Christmas.  Anyone know that game?  OMG...... totally addicting!!

If we're home, we go out in the field and shoot the guns off as the clock strikes 12, that's about it. And whoop and holler and act like a bunch of redneck idgits. I kinda live close in town now tho, so I don't know if I'll get away with it here. I guess we'll see....

Pretty boring stuff. This year actually, I'm gonna be in Portland at a NYE party, so I probably shouldn't take my 12 guage. LOL

Question: What makes this different from any other day?

OMG Charm.. I remember a few years back, we were at a friends house and he got out his pistol at midnight and shot it into the ground in his backyard... scared the sheet out of me!   I don't like guns... I guess 'cause I'm a city girl. The only hunters around here are the drive~by kind.

When I was a kid I remember we used to get out the pots and pans and clank them together at midnight... we sooo looked forward to that! As I went into early adulthood going to a party and getting swacked was the tradition. :drunk: Now that I'm all grow'd up I try to stay close to home and don't care to be out driving around. I stay home and get swacked  LOL ok just kidding.

I guess I have no tradition.. this year will be a quiet one. Even Dick Clark will be home. I'm quite certain my hubby will be snorrrring by midnight.

Seriously... I hope everyone has a safe New Years Eve! It's a dangerous night to be on the road. You might run into Charmin.  LOL

Yeah, when you get a .410, a 12 gauge, and a 20 gauge all out there together, it can cause quite a racket. Nothing line those ganstas use, no AK-47's or nothing like that:)
But geez. one year my mom & step dad got out their black powder rifles too....
Every dog within 5 miles was going nutso.

Hey, I'm not dangerous with a gun. Not at all.... I'm not even one of those idiots who shoot STRAIGHT overhead, and apparently failed to learn the "what goes up must come down" lesson. Now my baseball bat or splitting maul... those I might be a tad more fierce with.   LOL

Yeah, I'm so scary, it frightens even me. haha

We usually stay home every year. This year, I'm supposed to have a thing to go to.... but if certain things don't get accomplished between now & this weekend, I'm gonna bail on those plans. I might end up being home anyhow. I don't care to be out on the road with a bunch of idiots when I drive home.

I know I know! That always gets me... when I see these people in other countries shooting guns in the air when they are celebrating or.. for whatever reason. It's nuts!

Post subject:  Re: new year's traditions?

We learned a new tradition when we moved to our current neigborhood about seven years ago. At the stroke of twelve, the neighbors go outside and fire their guns into the air. This is not in the country, we actually have a population here and they don't seem to care. That stuff does come back down and people are injured.

We like to go to Rich and Sharon's for New Year's eve. It's much safer.

That's what old haybales are for....... you just shoot into those. Then everyone is safe and you still get to make all the racket you want.

Hey, speaking of which.... (kinda off topic, but hey- the right forum, Lol)

Did anyone see that thing on TV (some funny video show, can't recall which one, mighta been Max X)... where the people do Redneck Bowling? They set up the pins and shoot them down with shotguns?

It looks kinda fun.
