This is the way I recomed doing it.....
First you need to RIP the songs to your PC into Mp3+G format. The mp3+g format is actually 2 files. One is a MP3 file, just like any other mp3 file. It contains the music portion of the karaoke track. THe 2nd file is the .CDG file which contains the lyric portion of the song.
AudioGrabber is a FREEWARE program that can RIP the karaoke tracks to your PC. If you use that program, make sure to rip at a high bitrate, 192 or above, if you plan on using your music at a professional show.
Now to PLAY the karaoke tracks once you have them ripped to your PC you can use
WINAMP. The FREE one will work fine. You will also need the
Mp3+G plugin for winamp. THe plugin is what interperts the .CDG file to display the lyrics.
Now if you want to go a step further there are several "Hosting" programs out there that will handle song searching, rotations, and other things. But that is a whole nother thread.
BTW....The GOLDENHAWK product you speak of is callded CDRWIN, and it does RIP karaoke tracks to your PC to BIN files. But you will need to further process the BIN file to the MP3+G format using MP3+G TOOLZS, and CDRWIN cost like $25. SO stick with the free AUDIOGRABBER.
Oh yeah, all this is assuming you have a CD drive in your PC that can read the CDG subcode (karaoke lyrics) If your CD drive can't read that subcode, you will need to get one that does. I, and many others, recomend Plextor CD drives, as thay are considered the "standard" for PC karaoke.
Hope that all makes sense. If not just ask more questions.
