I set up for the christmas party today, and everything is great except I noticed that the room echoes when I play the music. The room is all cement with indoor outdoor carpeting. It is like 100' by 100' with 30' ceilings. Anyways, what should I do to compensate for this? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you. |

Are you using subs???? When the place fills up with people it will help some. |

Hopefully that room will fill up with bodies, which will help absorb some of the sound. Are your speakers on stands? If your trying to play above the crowd, you're just gonna hit open air. I would try to set them about head level so once again, the sound gets absorb by the crowd and doesn't bounce off of the back wall. Also how big is your setup? I've seen guys who try to play the music so loud thinking that it will cut through the echo, but it does just actually the opposite, it may make it worse. So you may want to consider instead of trying to fill up the whole room with sound, just pull it back your volume a bit and concentrate on centralizing your sound a bit more. If all else fails and you can't eq to the room, you may just have to get the best speaker sound you can get within the immediate area and go with it. Keep in mind, I'm not a soundman, I'm just one of those guys that has to work with what he's got, so good luck to ya. James |

I am running 2 br12's and 2 jbl 15's. I was thinking that bodies will help, but the room being soo big... Anyways, as far as eqing the room, I am by no means a sound guy, and I run everything flat. I am always afraid of blowing something if I mess with the eq. I am running en emx512sc for my mixer and using the main outs to a crown2000. So if you guys have any eq settings you could throw at me to try out that would be awesome! Thank you. |

At minimum get a large piece of rug/carpet under the singer area. |

I have a vene here that I gig at that is actually the National Gaurd Amory. It has concrete block walls and concrete floor, and metal ceiling. The room is probably 80'x120' with cealing at 40'. I have played ther several times, ad found that using 4 speakrs at the corners of the dance area about chest level, and turning down the volume helps. I also EQ the room with less bass than normal, since it seems that the bass has the most echo in the room. Start up some music, and adjust each freq on the EQ up/down then return to flat. DO this for each slider on the EQ till you find which freq have the worst echo, and the adjust accordlingy. OF cours as the room fills, the acoustics will change, and it may be necessary to adjust the EQ a few times throughout the night. |

I did this show last night, and left all eq settings at flat. It was ok and no complaints. Everything went great until I tried to get the monitor to work for karaoke. It had been working all day long, and all of a sudden it would not work. Finally, about 2 hours later I got it on, but by then people had left
