Just watched an episode of Inside Edition & they had a story on about a NJ woman collecting Silly String to send to Iraq. Apparently they ues it to spray into rooms they think might be boobytrapped & it sticks to the trip wires so as not to be detinated. What a great idea !!!! Just thought Id share... |

Did they mention or show what it is about the tripwires that conducts the silly string ? or do they just spray the string on what they suspect to be tripwires directly ? ADDED IN: This is likely what you are speaking of http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/200 ... htm?csp=34 reading it now |

They showed an example & they spray them where they expect them like right inside doorways The trips are like I guess fishing line or thinner & clear also. But what a novel cheap idea I thought it was brilliant myself |

OH, OK, sorry.. That does make sense. I was confusing "tripwire" with contact that's boobytrapped. But it makes total sense because if you shoot a light length of the string propelled from a can, it will sit over the wire making it visible from a distance ! That's a great idea actually. Silly string has been around a LONG time however. I wonder if they used such a process during even vietnam, and certainly 1990 (desert storm) |

When I saw the thread title I thought you were going to tell us about some yahoo who disfigured his friend by holding a lighter in front of a can of silly string, creating his own napalm thrower. Nice to see cans of silly string being put to a beneficial use for a change. |

When I saw that title of the thread I thought maybe someone went up in flames with the stuff... I've seen that happen on AFV... weddings etc. That stuff is really flammable, I won't let my kids use it anywhere near hot stuff. I love that idea though, now if they could just find an anti-terrorist use for the slinky! |
