What I mean is time change, home football games, etc. tend to have an effect on my karaoke crowds. I can usually set my calendar by them. I'm curious if anyone else experiences this. Surely I'm not the only one |

Concert events in Tacoma/Seattle area - will bring in slower crowds / later crowds. Our annual State fairs. Slower/later. Not so much with sporting events, although if we win, we usually have a slightly larger crowd that night. More crowd if we win, slower/later if we don't. |

Oh yeah, sports tend to change things. I have delayed the start of karaoke on a slow night. Baseball champioships and basketball. Football is on Sunday or Monday, so it hasn't been a problem. It all depends on if it is a Chicago team though. Go Bears ! |

We don't delay because of the games - UNLESS it's like a playoff or 'super' game, but we will leave the bigscreen on the game until it's over & start on time as normal. |

Weather, sometimes the rain keeps them in, sometimes it brings them out. Cold weather tends to slow things down a bit. Holiday shopping. Paying the bills, better crowds first of the month than the last of the month. Oh yeah, local sports around here is very big. So is Nascar and college football, when they run late games or races, folks tend to wanna watch tv then sing, if their team wins whoohoo, if it loses, they all wanna go home and pout... Location, some of my gigs are on the main roads here in town, some are off the beaten path. Off season on the water plays major in my Marina gigs. But such is life living in a small town. It's either feast or famine. James |

I KJ in a sports bar, which actually helps with my crowds. We always show the Tampa Bay Bucs, Florida Gator, FSU, and Miami football games until they are "decided," i.e. once the game is pretty much mathmatically over. I'll then start karaoke but leave the game on all of the TVs on mute for those watching them. IN some cases, I won't even start until 11:00-11:30 when these games are tight. I get paid either way, so I don't sweat it, and it leaves me with a bigger crowd to start out with than I would usually have on a normal night at 9:00. I tend to have larger crowds when it rains. Being in FL, there is lots to do outdoors, but when it rains everyone has to move inside. I take a bit of a hit for major events, but I work in a densely populated metro area of about 2 million, so I'm not hurting for potential customers either way. The only times I have that are consistently slow are the first 2-3 weeks after New Years, when everyone is paying their Xmas bills, and the first 2-3 weeks after school starts, when everyone is paying extra attention to their kids. The rest of the year is pretty consistent!! |

My crowds realy don't change that much. Bout the only time I see a big difference is if the local county fairs are going on. THey usualy have some entertaiment from a former BIG star, and that couuld draw some people away. IF there happens to be a BIG game/race on, the audicence TV dosen't get swiched over to karaoke till the game is done, but karaoke starts on time. I do notice a decrease in the monhts of Feb, March, and part of April. But this is for every nite at all the barsin my area, with or without entertainment. My thiniknig is that eveyone is getting sick of going out in the cold, the big heating bills are comming in, and the Christmas bills are comming in too, and most people don't have there tax refunds yet. After Mid April, it picks back up. |

Twans - good point ! I do notice a difference in the bar when the summer festivals are going on. In the Chicago area all the suburbs have their own. I am affected by 6 to 7 different ones. There are at least 2 months out of the summer that my crowd seems to come in later. Most festivals close by 11:00. |
