Reposting this problem in the idea that fresh ideas can be brought in. I originally Downloaded Winamp and was using it with the lyrics display and everything was working correctly. Decided to upgrade to WinamPRO 5.32 and when I went to play the CDG, the lyrice are missing. It was mentioned in earlier disscussion thread that the new Winamp opens into or eliminates the old folder and that DL'ing the mp3+g plug-in would take care of this. I have did this and still no luck. I became so frustrated that I did a search for all winamp folders...deleted them all, went back to Winamp and DL'd the WinamPRO again...same thing. I really want to get this one going, or else return to an earlier version is my last option (2.91). I figure the newer version would be much better if I can just  get it going. It plays the music fine, just no lyrics. Have tried pug-ins from various other areas, but none have worked yet.

Anyone w/an idea on what I'm doing wrong?

Have tried to copy the cdg+g plug-in into the winamp folder from the folder menu, nothing new happens there either.

Sending another request to winamp for help with their upgrade.

Just sent ya the link to download winamp 2.91 with sax&dotties player which works with winamp 2.91 to show the song list & lyrics on screen...Plus included the cdg plugin & key changer plugin.   On the key changer plugin after installing all of these...go into winamp options/plugins...then configure plugin....and set key changer plugin settings to high priority and best Quality....That way if you need to use the key changer it will stay in sink with the words like its supposed to.  If you leave the settings at default it may get out of sink with the words while changing the key/pitch/tempo...etc.

This is the old version of Sax & Dotties player which requires your mp3+cdg files to be zipped.  Just load your folder of zipped songs into Sax & dotties karaoke player, and it will connect to winamp folder the first time you run it....click ok...after that load the folder containing all your zipped mp3+cdg files and then when sax & dotties connects to winamp...Simply choose the song you want to play and double click on it in the list or highlight it in the list and then click the play button...on Sax& Dotties player...as it is the program that uses winamp to play the files.

If you do not see the karaoke window pop up.....then look down at your task bar and if you see a box in the task bar that says cdg...click on it and the window will come up on screen so you can see the lyrics.

you can set that window to full screen or keep it small depending on your preference.

Once you get it working...Don't let winamp update!!! Turn the update option in winamp off in winamp options and then you should be ok.  :)

P.S.

The files I sent you work On Windows ME and XP ....not sure about other microsoft products... But Im running XP and it works fine.  :)

I'm at a loss for what to do to get it working. There are a few people here who can help. The first one that comes to mind is Karyoker. He has a website that has information about Winamp and the plug-ins. I'll send you a PM with the link in it.

Try downloading the plugin, instead of copying it.  You may not have coppied all the necesary files to the new installation.  Make sure when install the pluging, you point it to the NEW winamp installation.

ANd of course after it is installed make sure you have enabled the plugin.

On the initial installuse the default path for Winamp. Ie c:/Program Files/winamp.  The plugins are self installers (dble click on them to install) They assume the default path. In the winamp plugins folder duplicate gen_cdg.dll woith gen_cdg.dll1 and repeat for as many graphic screens wanted.  Once a good install is made duplicate the winamp folder and rename the new one winamp2... Then in some karaoke progs such as roxbox yiou have 2 different players and they can have different plugins and use different sound engines..  Ihavt updated yet but I havnt had any problems with winamp updates yet.. from 2.9..

At outside gigs we actually start another winamp going into a spare channel in the mixer. In the middle of a song Ill fly a 747 over at 100 spl . At the right point crank the reverb fx.. People are diving under the picnic tables...  One night after dark I flew a helo over.. The singer stopped singing and was looking up Everybody was looking up and I was rolling on the ground.  So it is possible to run 2 winamps at the same time.....
