Post subject: | Holiday Thoughts, A Personal Message |
Just some thoughts I thought I'd like to share with you folks here at the Karaoke Forums. Happy Holidays to you and your's. May your Christmas be filled with blessings and the company of family and friends. Take care in your travels and always remember it's not the cost of the gift, but the act of giving that counts. Make an effort to volunteer in your local community, many of which have ongoing food and toy drives designed to help those in need during this time of year. Nothing warms the heart more than the smile of a child and nothing warms the soul than the selfless act of giving to those who have less than ourselves. Regardless of your religious or personal beliefs, remember for many of us, this time is a celebration of the birth of Christ. May his day be honored with prayers and thanksgiving and the joy of his birth be shared with the world. It is through his teachings that we learn the act of tolerance and understanding for those of different faiths and beliefs, and our acts should also be respectful of all men and women whatever walk of life they may come. Diversity should not be viewed as differences, but a gift from which all can learn. For our time upon this earth is short and the end is never known until we close our eyes for one last time. To waste this precious gift on conflict is fruitless and is much better spent seeking out ways to bring joy and happiness to all we meet. Is it not better to say 'without knowing you I can call you friend' rather than say 'because I do not know you, I can offer nothing'. So be not quick to judge and cry foul, because there is always the slim chance that there is an afterlife and we may all in fact meet again. Make the moment count. Not a problem, just cue up Johnny Cash's 'Hurt' and I'm there. It's still my favorite song to do at Karaoke. I actually wish I had the time and the money to take a roadtrip around to see and meet some of the folks here, that would be very cool. James |

Merry Xmas to all...umm just to set the record straight this is actually a Druidic festival or the Roman festival of Saturnalia during the winter solstice. There is no definitive date for Christ being born, this one was adopted by early Christians to coincide with what the rest of the civilized world was doing at the time. Brotherhood (sisterhood) should be innate to the human condition, religion gets in the way of that too many times - whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu etc. Look at Iraq today, anyone see any parallels with 16th century Europe? For those who don't remember history - Catholics and Protestants were killing each other in biblical proportions. Similar to what Sunnis and Shiites are doing to each other now. The only difference is they used swords and not bombs. What we need to do is to eliminate this political BS whether Neocon or Liberal and use some common sense. Blowing up some A**hole in Bagdad to make some geopolitical point is a waste of lives and money. I will continue to support my countries troops in Afghanistan as they are making a difference. Iraq is a quagmire. Enough ranting, though I know very few of you personally - to all members of KS and its dedicated staff - a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year or Hanukkah or Quanza or whatever you celebrate at this time of year. Be of good spirit and generous to your fellow human beings...and pass me another beer (hic)! Karaoke is life itself (in the key of B flat). |

James !! Thanks for that !! It was beautiful !! With the hustle & bustle of the holidays we all need to remember what theyre all about...loving on another is the biggest bestest thing we can all do & its free...doesnt cost a dime to help someone in thier time of need or even just a smile in passing... I hope you all enjoy the holidays & give thanks for the people you have in your lives b/c we are all soo blessed to be on this earth no matter what our circumstances... |

I bet you're the life of the party during the holiday season. But my point wasn't to get bogged down in all the political BS. It was to share a positive feeling among my friends here at KS, hence in quoting your post, I felt the last paragraph was the only thing that showed any actually relevance to the thread, and for that I thank you. I know you'll feel that knee jerk reaction to response, but tell ya what, how bout letting us that want to enjoy the moment for once. Thanks James |
