After reading the forum for many months, it's easy to tell the "KJs" that have a real passion for karaoke, from the ones that just do it as a way to make money.
You can tell by the investment in time and money or lack of it.
The professionalism or lack of it.
The willingness to make karaoke a lasting, viable form of entertainment.
The determination to succeed.
The ones that go beyond the "Good enough for karaoke attitude."
The ones that promote quality karaoke.
It all becomes very clear, who will last and who will fall-by-the-way-side. :O
Time..... will tell.
To all that have what it takes.....
Sing along....."We are the champions my friends.......
and we'll keep on fighting til the end......
No filler music......
no dance song medleys......
no half a system....
cause we are the KJs......
Of the world..... :hi5: :dancin: :oh yeah:

I break a good number of your rules and I've been going strong for almost 3 years now and made almost $60,000 as a DJ-oke host. At what point am I considered successful by the BigDog??

I am not sure of your intent. Are you saluting all karaoke hosts that try to do their
best at what they do or slamming people for not doing it your way? :dontknow:

With each one getting more & More derogatory towards everyone making his inflated ego already larger that it alreasy is by having to put others down for being successful w/o thinking like him.

If you continue to FEED STRAY DOGS they stick around and want MORE AND MORE
If you stop feeding them - they'll bark for awhile and scratch at the door BUT THEY EVENTUALY LEAVE to find FOOD for their EGOS on some other site.
But that being said
Thank You Big Dog because your most certainly be talking about all the KJ's on this site when you talk about Professional.

If you just have a passion for karaoke, then why charge anything...be the almighty deity that you claim to be & do it for free. People get into business to MAKE MONEY 99.9% of the time, so you aren't in business to make money or are you saying you are, and aren't passionate about the karaoke business...because you know you can't have both  ?

Especially with all the smileys & ...... at the end of several words & phrases. But he does have a PA marking under location which would coincide with anothers claim that she knows who he is. She told me to mention this quote to him:
"Your fur is as white as the snow on the Sierra mountains, I think your nickname should be Sierra"
His flag is now changing like dogs as well. So just so he don't claim the no PA thing, here is the proof.

Have wondered about this myself.
My humble theory: "pittsburghpat" was a creation of da' B.D. when he first really started catching "heck" from other members. Pretty smart move in that position.... If you're in the verbal line of fire, it always works out well when someone "worse" conveniantly comes along, with their harsh accusations, to deflect the fire from you AND possibly help you gain some sympathy from other members.
Dogcatcher from PA & pittsburghpat: Alter egos that drop not-so-subtle hints to his actual locale... because he would never actually admit it himself. Kinda like a game he plays to kill time. It's hard to imagine any members popping up that randomly from out of PA, just to "catch" him.
The only other thing makes me wanna think this is the second sentence from this post: http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=86568&highlight=#86568
If someone's already pointed this out before, sorry for the redundancy, and I SWEAR I don't spend my idle hours trying to solve the Dog-vinci Code... just killin' time, myself.

Big Dog, probably is Dog Catcher......I'd doubt that either one is from Pa.....I think I figured out who he is, and I think he's a little farther south, and a little farther west........doesn't matter.....I enjoy the controversy......he keeps us posting.... I have hard enough time keeping up with one persona, but I think some people have 3 or 4.........does that mean there really isn't that many people on here....

i don't know who dogcatcher is, but you would be wrong about me. if you ever went to one of bd's shows, he doesn't act anything like he does here. although he doesn't want to admit where is from, i'm not exactly confortable yet giving information that would reveal his identity other than he's from north hills area of pittsburgh. i don't know what the 2nd sentence in the other post means to you. bd works or worked at a steel mill and that was known by some people. i don't know about the divorce since i wasn't around at the time. although it seems to me that the wife was the brains behind the operation since befor the marriage bd only ran his own shows and after the divorce he's back to only doing his own shows. but bd seems to be the talent of the operation, since i've heard that the wife is totally out of the karaoke business. i heard the name of the dog in bd's picture is named sierra.
i'm going to be back in the pittsburgh area for the holidays, i will have to make a few karaoke stops while im there.
bye pghpat

OK, I'm calling Bigdog out (my post my be deleted as advertising, but here goes) :
My name (and meaning of screen name is") Gale Annette Horne McDuff Condrey Sheets (confused yet?) Current Legal name Gale A Sheets
I work as a regular gig at The Rider's Lodge, Bay Minette, AL on Friday nights.
I was raised in Winnfield, LA, though half was in Athens, TX.
Most of my equipment is listed on the thread: "Just want to brag-system."
I have no doubt in my ability as a Karaoke Host, and any questions I DO have, I address here, or with fellow KJs in my area.
I have been asked to do several other bar locations, and several benefits. I have also filled in for a couple of local KJs as the need arose, so I know I'm at LEAST good enough in most peoples eyes.
So... If you want to keep SAYING how good you are, while putting down as many people down as you can, now is your chance to add some credibility to your constant comments .
(I know I said I wouldn't comment on his posts anymore; so much for my new years resolution) I may have to go into the witness protection program; any bodyguards available? (Tequila doesn't make my close fall off, Jim Beam just makes my mouth open )

First of all, this was not directed at anyone. It's not a personal attack unless you made it one.
If you do not fall into the category mentioned, why? Is that my fault? Did I put you where you are? Fix your problem. Don't holler at my about it. I am not the blame.
My extreme passion for quality karaoke is not shared by the majority here. I want karaoke to continue just as it is. A very unique form of entertainment that transends color, age, sex, musical tastes and talent level, at one time. No other form of entertainment has the power to do what only karaoke can.
Crap systems, unfair rotations, dance/filler music, hacks and jerks, etc, do not help the cause. Just doing it as a way to make money, is not promoting the cause. Having a "It's good enough for karaoke" attitude, is not promoting the cause. Playing dance music half the night does not promote the cause. Cheap sounding equipment does not promote the cause. I want to be a KJ and make lots of money, but this crap is all I can afford, does not promote the cause. A night full of screaming drunks doesn't promote the cause. We are still fighting that reputation.
You have in your hands the power to destroy karaoke as we know it. I don't want to see that happen. Nothing like this is coming around again, for a long time.
Promote quality karaoke, with quality. Take some pride in our business. Do everything you can to make karaoke last, as it is.
I am not the problem. I am not your problem. I did not create your problem.
I will not be the death of karaoke. What about you?
