I have purchased an m-audio fasttrack guitar/mic recording interface Its not what Keith suggested but its more portable with an xlr connection and has a pre-amp if I ever get round to purchasing a condenser mic. Thing is when recording to Adobe Audition my mic is recording in mono on a stereo track in multitrack. This means I spent bloody ages copying and pasting left to right Is there a way to get it to record to both left and right? Why is this any different to going thru my mixer? I am using the same mic and cord plugged into the fasttrack so I am confused as to why it will only record on the left aside from that I am pleased with the clarity and look forward to getting up close and personal with some rockier material |

Mic is mono only..... Normally you track into one channel then bounce down into stereo....True stereo is with 2 mics........ |

There must be a setting somewhere in AA that you can change. It seems that you are recording the mono signal onto a stereo track setting. Change the setting to mono and you will get one track at the center. I don't use AA so I don't know where to look. |

The mixer split the mono signal to left and right. It does not make it stereo; just 2 mono |

I dont mind that its mono but its left channel feed only so unless I copy and paste to right vocals only come out of the left headphone or left speaker |

When recording your mic, select the AA recording channel to be a mono channel. That way it will record left and right, but identical, a so called split mono signal. That way you don't need to copy/paste. The reason it works with a mixer is the same. It is set up in such a way that it duplicates mono channels to both left and right, otherwise your guitar/mic would always play on one channel only. |

ok experimented and managed to do that ok... looks weird but at least its centred I guess I may be on a learning curve that destroys all I believe in re-recording Thank you Allstar. |
